LIMITED TERM RECRUITMENT
This position is a 2.5-year limited-term position. Limited-term assignments cannot exceed three years. However, the long term need and funding for this position may be re-evaluated at a later date. Limited duration positions receive benefits equivalent to their FTE status.
PAY AND BENEFITS
Hourly Pay Range: $46.213599 - $58.609516
Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on a candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position. This position is classified as an IT Administrator 2.

JOB DETAILS AND QUALIFICATIONS
Clackamas County Technology Services is seeking a skilled and dedicated Database Migration & Integration Administrator to support a range of critical initiatives, including our Technology Investment Initiative. This half-time position (.5 FTE) limited-term (2.5 years) appointment offers a unique opportunity for an experienced professional to make a meaningful contribution while maintaining schedule flexibility.
This role focuses on planning and executing database migrations from legacy SQL Server platforms to modern environments, such as Microsoft Azure or upgraded on-premises systems. The incumbent will closely coordinate with software vendors, technical staff, and end users to ensure smooth transitions, maintain data integrity, and minimize system downtime.
The Database Migration & Integration Administrator will manage and execute migration activities from initial planning through go-live. You will utilize Azure Data Factory, SSIS, and other ETL platforms to facilitate seamless data transfers and integrations. The individual in this role will collaborate with application development teams, infrastructure groups, and business users to support complex application migrations and ensure optimal system performance. This position requires strong project management skills to schedule resources, lead migration efforts, and coordinate go-live procedures. Additionally, the role includes using SQL Server monitoring and diagnostic tools such as SQL Profiler and extended events to analyze system behavior and optimize database operations.
The ideal candidate will be a highly experienced database professional who is detail-oriented, self-motivated, and comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative team. This person will have deep technical knowledge of SQL Server environments and data integration strategies and the ability to communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders. Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*
• A minimum of six (6) years of professional experience related to database administration, development, or support, including experience with database migrations
• Demonstrated experience with Microsoft SQL Server, including performance tuning, monitoring, and troubleshooting
• Experience using data integration tools such as Azure Data Factory or SQL Server Integration Services (SSIS)
• Proven ability to manage database migration projects, including planning, execution, and go-live coordination
• Strong understanding of data consistency, transformation, and validation principles
• Ability to communicate effectively with technical staff, end users, and third-party vendors
• Ability to work early and late hours to meet timelines, provide off-hour upgrades and maintenance and respond to emergency situations
Preferred Special Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*
• Experience migrating databases to Microsoft Azure
• Experience working in a public sector or enterprise IT environment
• Familiarity with application lifecycle management in the context of data migration
• Experience with SQL Server extended events or other performance diagnostic tools
• Knowledge of data governance best practices and process documentation

TYPICAL TASKS
Duties may include but are not limited to the following:
• Perform database migration projects to Microsoft Azure or On-Premises MS SQL Server, ensuring seamless transitions with minimal downtime.
• Utilize Azure Data Factory, SSIS, or other ETL processes to support data integration needs.
• Collaborate with development, infrastructure, and customer teams to support application migration and deployment.
• Integrate data from various sources, ensuring data consistency and integrity. Identify areas for process improvement.
• Develop migration plans and manage migration projects, work independently and as part of a team, conduct meetings, organize and schedule go-live procedures, coordinate required resources
• Utilize SQL Server monitoring and tracing tools such as SQL Profiler or extended events to identify database activity.
WORKING CONDITIONS
The incumbent typically works in a variety of settings and locations. Work requires the ability to bend, crawl, climb, and stoop, and the incumbent must be available at sites to provide client support in installing, repairing, and maintaining hardware and software. The incumbent must also be able to lift or move personal computers, terminals, and peripheral equipment, which may weigh up to fifty pounds. The incumbent frequently works early and late hours to meet timelines, provide off-hours upgrades and maintenance, and respond to emergencies.
WORK SCHEDULE
This position is included in the county's alternate workweek program, working 20 hours during a standard workweek of Monday through Thursday (Fridays off).
