Under the direction of the City Manager, performs duties necessary to manage the planning, zoning, development, permitting, inspections and code compliance operations of the City. Responsible for guiding daily activities through the development and oversight of program design and implementation, contract management, polices and directives, issuance of permits and COs, and goals and objectives to ensure the integrity of Code of Ordinances, and planning and development strategies of the City.
Required knowledge and experience is normally obtained through the completion of advanced education from an accredited educational institution of higher learning resulting in a Bachelor’s Degree in urban planning, civil engineering, public administration or related field, and at least five (5) to seven (7) years of work-related experience are required.
Master’s Degree in urban planning, civil engineering, public administration or related field is preferred. Three (3) years supervisory experience is preferred. American Institute of Certified Planners certification is preferred.
Bachelor’s degree requirement may be waived through proven work experience of at least ten (10) years in urban planning, civil engineering and/or public administration.
