The Dougherty County Administration Department is hiring for a Public Information & Constituent Services Officer The purpose of this position is to disseminate public information through various media outlets and assist each Commissioner in being responsive to their community’s needs.The role requires professionalism, empathy, problem-solving skills, and strong knowledge of governmental processes.This class works under administrative supervision, developing and implementing programs within organizational policies and reports major activities to executive level administrators through conferences and reports.Constituent Assistance: •Responds to constituent inquires via phone, email, mail and in-person meetings.•Research casework issues, track progress, and follow up to ensure resolution. •Maintains accurate records of all constituent interactions and case outcomes in a casework management system •Drafts correspondence on behalf of the Commissioners o agencies, constituents, or advocacy organizations. Public Information: •Provides professional/technical guidance and advice regarding public information policy development, manner in which to handle sensitive and/or confidential information, etc.•Maintains a direct working relationship with the County Administrator, Assistant County Administrator and Department Directors.•Develops and maintains a system of processing information, which ensures the confidentiality of such information until it is time for public release.•Develops, coordinates, and implements public relations programs covering all phases of the County services.•Researches, gathers, and reviews data for use in the preparation of media releases and public informational and educational materials.•Writes media releases and prepares information for the County’s website.•Website and Social Media management.•Prepares remarks for the County Commissioners and County Administrator as needed. •Maintains liaison with members of the press (i.e., newspaper, radio, and television) and citizens.•Represents the County Administrator, Assistant County Administrator and/or Commissioners at community meetings, public events, and constituent gatherings.•Build and maintain relationships with local organizations, nonprofits, and community leaders.Administrative & Legislative Support•Prepares briefing materials and summaries on constituent trends or policy concerns.•Coordinates referrals and collaborates with other staff members to ensure constituent needs are addressed.•Maintains confidentiality and complies with privacy regulations in all constituent interactions.•Assists with special projects, town halls, and other office initiatives as assigned.•Bachelor’s Degree in Journalism, Mass Communications, Public Relations or related major.•Six (6) years of experience in public relations, journalism or related field or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.•Familiarity with FEMA/Disaster Recovery Reimbursement, Grants Administration/Research and Grant Funding Proposals: Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.•Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.•Physical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.Unavoidable Hazards (Work Environment): Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.•NoneSpecial Certifications And Licenses:•Must possess and maintain a valid state driver's license with an acceptable driving history.Americans With Disabilities Act Compliance: Dougherty County is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
