THE OPPORTUNITY supplies an entry-level experience for individuals who want to pursue a career in law enforcement by patrolling Kootenai County waterways, conducting vessel safety inspections, responding to calls for assistance, issuing citations, investigating accidents, and removing hazards.
The 2026 Marine Season is scheduled to start Mid-April of 2026 and will run through Labor Day Weekend.
You must be available to test on Saturday, December 20, 2025.
Testing consists of a written test, a physical agility test and an oral board interview.

Pay rate: $25.00 per hour.
THIS WOULD BE A GREAT FIT FOR SOMEONE WHO:
- Has an interest in law enforcement
- Is looking for a seasonal position
- Is comfortable with interviewing witnesses, and conducting preliminary investigations
- Would enjoy fielding questions from the public and advising on basic law premises
DO YOU QUALIFY?
- Do you have a High School Diploma or GED and twelve (12) months of work experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience?
- Do you have a driver's license and are you insurable?
- Ability to operate patrol watercraft.
