City of Sunrise, FL | Community Development – Code Compliance Division
About the Role
Join our Community Enhancement & Code Compliance Division where you’ll play a critical role in preserving the safety, appearance and economic stability of Sunrise. As a Code Compliance Officer, you’ll investigate and enforce municipal codes and zoning regulations, educate residents and businesses, respond to complaints, perform field inspections, and prepare Notices of Violation—all while delivering outstanding customer service to our diverse community.
Key Focus Areas
- Conduct proactive field investigations and patrols to identify zoning and property maintenance violations.
- Educate property owners, business operators and residents on city codes and compliance requirements.
- Serve as the point of contact for complaints, review inspection reports, document violations and issue notices.
- Represent the City at Special Magistrate hearings when required and collaborate with internal and external partners.
- Maintain accurate records, support departmental initiatives and uphold the City’s service standards.
What We’re Looking For
We’re seeking someone with:
- A strong commitment to public service and customer support.
- The ability to interpret municipal ordinances, regulations and procedures with tact and professionalism.
- Experience in code enforcement or a related investigative/inspection role (preferred).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills and the ability to work with diverse stakeholders.
- A F.A.C.E Level I certification, valid driver’s license and a willingness to conduct field work.
Recruitment Incentive Bonus: $3,000
