Role Description
We are seeking a dedicated City Planner for a full-time, on-site position in Greenwood, IN. In this role, you will be essential in shaping our city's growth and redevelopment initiatives. Your primary responsibilities will include reviewing development proposals, supporting long-range planning initiatives, and ensuring compliance with zoning and land-use regulations.
Key Responsibilities
- Analyze demographic and geographic data to assess development projects.
- Prepare staff reports and policy recommendations.
- Collaborate effectively with city officials, community stakeholders, the public and other relevant parties.
- Support the development and implementation of planning policies.
- Engage in community outreach to gather feedback and enhance public involvement.
Qualifications
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree in Urban Planning, Public Administration, Architecture, or a related field.
- Experience: No prior experience is required, but internships or coursework related to planning is advantageous.
- Communication Skills: Strong ability to interact with stakeholders, present findings, and write clear reports.
- Teamwork: Proven team collaboration and project management capabilities.
- Technical Skills: Experience with GIS mapping is a plus; familiarity with data analysis software is beneficial.
- Advanced Education: A Master’s degree in Urban Planning, Geography, Public Administration, or a related field is a plus.
- Relevant Experience: Previous experience in municipal or regional planning is a plus but not mandatory.
