($7,937 - $9,819 Monthly)
The Department of State Hospitals – Coalinga is now accepting applications for a
Full-Time, Permanent position as the Assistant Chief of Police Servcies. Under the general direction of the Chief of Police (CEA), the incumbent as the Assistant Chief, is responsible for the overall operation of the Hospital Police Services (HPS), the Office of Special Investigations (OSI), the supervision, direction, and training of personnel, liaison to local, state, and federal law enforcement agencies. The incumbent as the Assistant Chief enforces local, state, and federal law, and is also responsible for maintaining a secure and safe operation for the welfare of patients, staff, and the public. Act as the Chief of Police in his/her absence and may provide oversight of facility fire services, if applicable. .

Department Information
DSH-Coalinga opened in 2005 and began treating forensically committed patients, mostly of which are sexually violent predators. It is a self-contained psychiatric hospital constructed with a security perimeter. California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) provides perimeter security as well as transportation of patients to outside medical services and court proceedings .
All state civil service employees are currently subjected to a mandatory Personal Leave Program (PLP), which entails a reduction in monthly gross salary but provides PLP leave credits in lieu of Pay through June 20, 2027. The amount of salary reduction is dependent upon the classification and associated union Bargaining Unit (BU). The BU for this position is CALIFORNIA STATEWIDE LAW ENFORCEMENT ASSOCIATION, subject to 2% in salary reduction, accruing approximately 3-5 hours of PLP each month.
