Role Description
The City of Duvall seeks a full-time, on-site Building Official to join our dedicated team in Duvall, WA. This position involves overseeing and managing building and construction-related activities, including code enforcement and plan reviews to ensure compliance with local, state, and federal regulations. Primary responsibilities include reviewing construction plans and designs, issuing permits, performing building inspections, and providing guidance to developers, contractors, and the public regarding building code requirements. The Building Official will also collaborate with city departments while providing expertise to uphold safety and building standards in the community.
Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of building codes, safety regulations, and construction standards
- Experience in building inspections, plan reviews, construction management, or a related field
- Proficiency in code enforcement, compliance, and permitting processes
- Effective communication and problem-solving skills for guiding stakeholders and working in a team environment
- Organizational and project management skills for managing multiple priorities and ensuring timely permit approvals and inspections
- Professional certifications, such as ICC (International Code Council) certification as a Building Official, are preferred
- A bachelor’s degree in construction management, architecture, engineering, or a related field is an advantage
