Seattle is a vibrant, world-class city in the Pacific Northwest with a population of approximately 780,000 residents. Ideally located between Puget Sound and Lake Washington and surrounded by spectacular mountain scenery, Seattle offers an unparalleled natural backdrop.
The new City Auditor will report to the City Council. Seattle operates under a Mayor-Council form of government. The ideal candidate will have extensive experience in governmental auditing, performance evaluation, or public administration. They will bring a strong commitment to transparency, accountability, and equity in public service.
Required qualifications include:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Public Administration, or a closely related field
Minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible auditing or related experience
At least five (5) years of executive or senior-level management experience within a government
auditing or oversight environment, or an equivalent combination of education and leadership
experience demonstrating executive capability in a complex political setting
Preferred qualifications include:
Master’s degree in a related field
Certified Internal Auditor (CIA), CPA, or similar credential
Experience with performance auditing in a large municipal organization
The selected candidate may be offered a salary rate of $210,000 - $225,000 depending on experience and qualifications.
