The Sustainability Analyst supports the Mayor’s Office of Sustainability in advancing sustainable practices, climate action, and infrastructure improvements across Louisville, externally through the Louisville Green Bank and internally through Louisville Metro projects. The incumbent leads and supports sustainability initiatives across Metro departments and contributes to community-wide work related to greenhouse gas inventories and grant processes.
The position provides technical expertise for Metro’s interdepartmental Net Zero efforts and reviews new or current developments for alignment with LEED and other recognized sustainability standards.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Supports project management and development of Louisville Green Bank programs—including Solarize, Cool Roof, and EPAD.
Assists with green development initiatives, including grant opportunities, research, and analysis that advance program expansion.
Supports quantification of environmental impacts and tracks year-over-year progress toward Louisville Metro’s Net Zero goals.
Conducts research, communicates program goals, progress and outcomes via reports, presentations, and analyses, and assists with grant processes by preparing documentation, tracking data, and coordinating submissions.
Drafts RFPs and scopes of work as assigned.
Leads project management activities associated with Louisville Metro Government’s internal Net Zero Executive Order, including coordinating interdepartmental communication, project tracking, document control, and data management.
Supports project development and prepares progress reports to advance Net Zero Executive Order implementation across Louisville Metro Government.
Supports the Office’s monthly Green Team Cohort through content preparation and coordination as assigned.
Supports sustainability projects related to buildings, energy, and infrastructure across Louisville Metro Government, including Net Zero Executive Order-related work and initiatives with Fleet and Facilities.
Reviews new or current developments for alignment with LEED and other recognized sustainability standards and provides technical guidance to departments and project teams.
Analyzes building and energy data, and prepares reports, plans, and data visualizations to inform program design, implementation, and evaluation.
Supports the development and maintenance of greenhouse gas emissions inventories, emissions projections, and related analytical products for Louisville Metro Government and Louisville–Jefferson County.
Collects, processes, and analyzes emissions, energy, and operational data and prepares technical summaries that communicate trends and progress toward climate and Net Zero commitments.
Performs additional duties as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:
Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Business Administration, Construction, Engineering, Information Systems, Life Sciences, Physical Science, Public Administration, Public Policy, Social Science, Statistics, Sustainability, Urban Planning, or a related field.
One (1) year of experience in a related field; relevant internships, fellowships, and other practical experience may be considered in lieu of full-time employment. Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
LEED Associate certification may need to be pursued to perform required job duties upon hire.
