Position Description
Incumbents are hired on a part-time and temporary, hourly basis to provide specialized economic development services and project-based support. Work typically involves assisting with the implementation of economic development programs, supporting business attraction, retention, and expansion efforts, and helping develop or refine systems, procedures, and tools that advance the City’s economic development goals.
EXAMPLE OF DUTIES
Assist with marketing and promotion of economic development programs and initiatives.
Assist with website updates and social media content creation.
Support preparation of presentations and public-facing materials.
Assist with planning and coordinating meetings and special events.
Support trade show and conference preparation.
Research and compile data related to commercial vacancy, business trends, and economic indicators.
Assist with economic development grant support and documentation.
Respond to public and business inquiries and provide general program information.
Attend meetings with community organizations and stakeholders as needed.
Maintain organized records and perform filing and administrative support tasks.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Typical Qualifications
Possession of a high school diploma/GED or higher determined on responsibilities assigned.
Required experience will be determined on the basis of duties and responsibilities assigned.
Valid class “C” California Driver License.
SUPPLEMENTAL INFORMATION
Knowledge Of
Written and verbal communication skills.
Microsoft 365 (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
Social media and website content creation.
Canva or similar design software.
Basic data analysis or spreadsheet experience.
Ability To
Organize information and present it clearly through reports, summaries, and graphics.
Conduct research and compile data accurately.
Work independently and manage multiple assignments.
Interact professionally with businesses, community partners, and the public.
Work occasional evenings and weekends as needed.
Demonstrate strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
Physical Demands
While performing the duties of this class, the employee is constantly required to sit and frequently stand, walk, talk and hear, both in person and by telephone; use hands or fingers to handle, touch, or operate standards office equipment; and reach with hands and arms. The employee occasionally reaches for an item above or below desk level, and lifts or carries records and documents, typically weighing less than 20 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision and ability to adjust focus.
Mental Demands
While performing the duties of this class, the employee is regularly required to use verbal and written communication skills; exercise sound judgement in the absence of specific guidelines; establish priorities and work on multiple assignments and projects concurrently and meet intense and changing guidelines given continual interruptions.
