Under general direction, serves as the Detention Center’s coordinator of prisoner pre-trial services; performs administrative work in assisting inmates of the Detention Center by providing access to the courts, coordinating schedules, files, and documentation; facilitating the timely movement of inmates files and documentation to the courts; and performs other administrative support functions as directed by the Administrative Captain.
Education and Experience:- Associates Degree in Criminal Justice, Law Enforcement, or related field, and five years of detention/corrections experience with specific experience in the areas of court related issues, security, and prisoner conflict resolution. OR an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Licenses or Certifications:- Valid New Mexico Driver’s License; New Mexico State Certification as a Detention/Corrections Officer within three months of hire date.

This position is subject to bi-annual background checks in accordance with Sandoval County Detention Center Standard Operating Procedures (SOP) Part 1/C108, Chapter: Personnel, Subject: Employment Process/Background investigations, procedures post-employment, 4: and FPBDS A.9.6 (periodic).
- Reviews and updates Jail management system (JMS) on a daily basis for new booking information; confirms data on all JMS entries; meets with administration staff daily to review last twenty-four hours of operation.
- Reviews inmate files; inspects information for correct arrest information and documentation and transfers information to the Jail management system as needed; and responds to detainee communication forms on a daily basis. Reports all data entry or file errors to the Administrative Captain.
- Daily review of all in custody detainee files ensuring holds, warrants, transport orders and/or open charges are valid and meet Federal/State guidelines.
- Notifies the courts of incarcerated inmates that need to be arraigned; checks court files in district and magistrate for updated conditions of release and case information.
- Gathers information on former and current incarcerated inmates for facility courts, arresting agencies, other outside agencies and the general public; meets with and gathers information for the mental health court and forensic intervention consortium for referrals on former and current incarcerated inmates.
- Notifies and collects data on fugitive out of state warrants for the District Attorney; ensures state tracking numbers are assigned and posted on booking sheets and provided to the District Attorney; checks for warrants in other New Mexico counties when individuals are arrested and notifies counties when detainee is available for pick-up; notifies I.C.E of detainees ready for pick up and works with Sherriff’s Department regarding inmates transported in and those that need to be transported out. Gathers and completes census reports for the facility; serves as an instructor and conducts a variety of assigned training classes; appears in court to testify regarding legal matters; and performs other related duties as required or assigned.
- Coordinates with tribal agencies to set up/host court hearings for detainees in custody.
- Coordinates transports of detainees with the transport department.
- Attends court hearings for mental health detainees providing the judges with detainee information while housed in SCDC custody.
- Coordinates with District Court to file Department of Corrections retake orders.
- Coordinates with District Court and the Sheriff’s Office to file judgement and sentences to get detainees transferred to Department of Corrections.
- Coordinates with District Attorney’s office providing information on pending cases and detainees in custody.
- Coordinates with Department of Public safety for the maintenance, upkeep and update of the fingerprinting (Livescan) hardware and software in the booking department.
- Provides detailed training on the operation and use of the Jail Management system to Detention Center staff.
- Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
