Summary of Job Duties:
- Supervises Building Inspectors in performance of job duties and responsibilities .
- Serves as Team Leader for the Certificate of Occupancy Process Team which includes coordinating process, problem solving and issuing resolution with all agencies involved in the process.
- Conducts random inspections of buildings for code compliance; ensures compliance with applicable codes and standards.
- Provides advice to Building Inspectors regarding interpretation of blueprints; handles difficult consultations with architects, contractors, and building owners.
- Operates computer to assign permits and inspections and verify inspection records.
Minimum Qualifications:
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Seven (7) years of progressively responsible experience in commercial construction, building inspection, or code enforcement, including at least three (3) years performing duties equivalent to the Commercial & Senior Building Inspector level.
- Or an equivalent combination of education and experience substituting only for the experience requirement above.
- Possession of an RLC certification issued by the Ohio Board of Building Standards, including applicable specializations (e.g., BI, MI, FPI, EPI/ENI).
- Out-of-state applicants: Candidates who hold equivalent certifications in another state at the time of appointment must obtain the required Ohio RLC certification within two (2) years of appointment.
- Valid driver’s license issued by the state of residency.

- 40 Hour Work Week, generally between core hours of 7:30-5:30
