Hiring range: $83,960.00 - $125,939.00
Position Summary
The Sr. Economic Dev Program Manager is responsible for having comprehensive knowledge in this field
and is for providing leadership in policy and program development, implementation, and monitoring
related to commercial, industrial, job development, and other economic development, redevelopment, or
capital improvement projects or programs. Provides oversight of professional and technical work in the
Office of Economic Development. This position serves as a County liaison with business partners, clients
and customers. May provide supervision to other economic development staff and contracted business
partners.
Essential Functions
- Provide leadership in the development of economic business plans for public improvement,
redevelopment projects and private companies
- Assist in creating strategies for development of a variety of economic development policies
including small business development, workforce development, the attraction of new investment
and retention of existing companies
- Establish and maintain working relationships with all partner organizations including non-profits,
governmental units, associations and trade organizations
- Monitor and manage all activities that could possibly have an impact on economic development
projects
- Provide leadership in attracting domestic and international businesses and manages business
retention and expansion efforts in conjunction with economic development partners
- Provide leadership in small business development initiatives, and other economic development,
redevelopment and/or capital improvement projects
- Provide leadership in marketing and promoting emerging technology and economic development
- Analyze data and makes specific recommendations including strategic planning and
implementation
- Analyze real estate investment and job investment projects
- Provide leadership in negotiation and development contracts with private developers and
corporations
Experience
Minimum Qualifications
Minimum of eight years of progressive responsibility in economic development functions, including
program leadership roles.
Education
Bachelor’s degree with major course work in a field related to Real Estate, Finance, or Public
Administration or in a field related field.

Licenses and Certifications
- Requires a valid North Carolina or South Carolina Driver's License
- Must obtain and maintain a Mecklenburg County Operator's Permit
