The City of Brentwood is seeking a highly skilled, motivated, and collaborative professional to serve as its next Fleet and Facilities Maintenance Manager.
The Fleet and Facilities Maintenance Manager is responsible for leading the City’s fleet and facility operations, ensuring the reliable maintenance and performance of vehicles, equipment, buildings, and support infrastructure. This role oversees day-to-day operations while supporting long-term planning, capital improvements, and lifecycle management of City assets, including the procurement and replacement of fleet vehicles, equipment, and facility improvements. The position plays a critical role in maintaining service continuity across all departments by ensuring equipment readiness, safe and functional facilities, and efficient use of resources.
The City is seeking a proactive and collaborative manager with strong leadership and technical experience in fleet and facilities operations. The ideal candidate will foster a team-oriented environment and actively promote collaboration across Public Works divisions and other City departments to support operational needs. This individual will emphasize accountability, safety, and continuous improvement while coaching and developing staff to reach higher levels of performance. A successful manager will bring sound judgment, strong communication skills, and the ability to effectively manage contracts, budgets, and resources while balancing immediate operational demands with long-term asset management strategies.

Education and Experience:Any combination of training and experience that would provide the required knowledge, skills, and abilities is qualifying. A typical way to obtain the required qualifications would be:- Equivalent to an associate degree from an accredited college with coursework in business or public administration, operations management, construction management, or a related field.
- Five (5) years of increasingly responsible experience in fleet and facilities maintenance, including two (2) years of supervisory experience.
Licenses and Certifications:- Possession of a valid California Driver’s License and a satisfactory driving record must be maintained throughout employment.
- Possession of a Master Mechanic Automotive Service Excellence Certificate may be required.
- Possession of a Certified Automotive Fleet Manager (CAFM) or Certified Automotive Fleet Specialist (CAFS) from the National Association of Fleet Administrators; or Certified Public Fleet Professional (CPFP) from the American Public Works Association; or equivalent may be required.

Eligible List: All applicants that pass the examination process will be placed on the eligible list which is good for at least 6 months and may be extended up to an additional 18 months. This eligible list will be used by the City of Brentwood to fill all current and future openings in this classification as long as the list is active.
