The Prince William County Police Department – Animal Services Bureau is seeking a detail-oriented, outgoing people person who is passionate about helping to increase the positive outcomes for homeless animals in Prince William County. The Foster Coordinator will manage and continue to develop a foster program that helps the Bureau expand the walls of the Animal Services Center into the community.
About This Role
The Foster Coordinator will be primarily responsible for coordinating animal foster placements in the community, monitoring animals in foster, ensuring needs are being addressed, tracking and recording all program data, recruiting and training new foster homes, ensuring all records are accurately maintained, and ensuring all foster supplies and equipment are sanitized and ready for use.
Minimum Requirements
High School Diploma or G.E.D. and 4 years of animal shelter or animal health-related experience.
Preferences
An ideal candidate should have experience with:
- Utilizing database software
- Customer service
- Companion animal handling skills
- Supervising staff and/or volunteers in a public animal shelter
- Program management and report writing.
- Knowledge of companion animal medical conditions and behaviors
- Knowledge of Virginia and Prince William County Animal Laws
Special Requirements
- Must possess a valid Driver’s License
- Must be able to lift 50lbs
- Euthanasia Certification must be obtained within 1 year of hire (training provided)
Work Schedule
This is a full-time salaried position, with an initial schedule of Su – Th, 9:30 am – 5:30 pm, subject to review to meet program needs. This position is considered to be essential personnel and may be subject to emergency response requirements for bureau needs. This position will be issued a mobile phone and will include on-call responsibilities.
Starting Salary Range: $78,971.59 - $92,907.75
