Vice President of Finance
Why RSM?
RSM is a growing retail marketing and merchandising company serving nationally recognized brands across the United States.
As our business continues to evolve, we're investing in the people, processes, and systems that will support our next phase of growth. This is an opportunity to join an organization at a pivotal time—where you'll have the ability to influence strategy, improve financial operations, and help build the infrastructure needed to support long-term success.
We're looking for someone who enjoys building as much as leading. Someone who sees opportunity where others see complexity and is energized by creating structure, improving visibility, and partnering with executive leadership to drive better business decisions.
About the Opportunity
The Vice President of Finance serves as the company's senior finance leader, responsible for both the strategic direction and day-to-day execution of the finance function.
This is a highly visible leadership role for someone who enjoys operating at both the strategic and tactical levels. You'll oversee budgeting, forecasting, cash management, financial reporting, accounting operations, payroll, and business analysis while partnering closely with executive leadership to improve profitability and support growth initiatives.
This position is ideal for a finance executive who has successfully built strong financial disciplines within a growing organization and is excited by the opportunity to build, improve, and lead. The successful candidate will play a critical role in shaping the future of the finance organization while helping build the financial foundation that supports RSM's continued growth.
Key Responsibilities
- Serve as a key member of the Executive Leadership Team, helping develop and execute the company's financial strategy.
- Lead all core financial operations, including budgeting, forecasting, cash flow management, and monthly and quarterly financial reporting.
- Oversee Accounts Payable, Accounts Receivable, Payroll, and vendor payments.
- Establish and maintain strong financial controls, policies, and procedures that support operational excellence.
- Lead the transition of the month-end close process from external accounting partners to an efficient, scalable in-house finance function.
- Develop financial reporting that provides meaningful insight into company performance and supports executive decision-making.
- Analyze client, project, and service line profitability to identify trends, risks, and opportunities.
- Build financial models and scenario analyses to support pricing, hiring, forecasting, and strategic initiatives.
- Partner with executive leadership on business planning, growth initiatives, client strategy, and corporate transactions.
- Strengthen visibility across the entire revenue lifecycle—from project scoping and budgeting through invoicing and margin realization.
- Evaluate and improve financial systems, reporting capabilities, and operational processes.
- Manage treasury activities, banking relationships, external accounting partners, and financial advisors.
- Ensure compliance with tax, licensing, insurance, and regulatory requirements.
- Support mergers and acquisitions, financial due diligence, and post-acquisition integration.
- Lead, mentor, and develop the Finance team while fostering strong partnerships across the organization.
Qualifications
Required
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance.
- 10+ years of progressive finance or accounting experience.
- Minimum of 3 years in a senior finance leadership role.
- Strong technical accounting foundation with demonstrated experience leading financial operations.
- Experience building scalable financial processes, reporting, and internal controls.
- Proven ability to translate financial data into strategic business recommendations.
- Exceptional communication skills with experience partnering with executive leadership.
Preferred
- CPA strongly preferred.
- MBA is a plus.
- Experience within an agency, project-based, or professional services organization.
- Strong understanding of project profitability, WIP accounting, and revenue recognition.
- Experience supporting mergers & acquisitions and post-acquisition integration.
- Experience with QuickBooks, HubSpot, ADP, and advanced Excel or Google Sheets.
Career Opportunity
This is more than a traditional Vice President of Finance role.
You'll have the opportunity to build and modernize the finance function, strengthen financial reporting, establish scalable processes, and serve as a trusted advisor to the Executive Leadership Team.
We're looking for a leader who enjoys creating structure, improving operations, and partnering across the business to help an organization scale. Success in this role will come from balancing strategic thinking with a willingness to roll up your sleeves, solve problems, and build a strong financial foundation for the future.
If you're a finance leader who thrives in a growing, entrepreneurial environment and wants to make a lasting impact, we'd love to hear from you.
