The Town of Lexington is accepting applications for the position of Community and Economic Development Coordinator in the Planning and Building Department. Under general supervision, performs professional and administrative work related to development services, economic development, redevelopment, zoning administration, architectural review, business assistance, annexation, and special projects. Serves as a primary point of contact for businesses, property owners, developers, and residents navigating the Town’s planning, development, permitting, zoning, architectural review, annexation, and business development processes. Assists with implementation of economic development and redevelopment initiatives, commercial development review, and customer service functions.
The Community and Economic Development Coordinator provides backup support for commercial development reviews, administration of the Board of Architectural and Appearance, annexation coordination, redevelopment initiatives, and various special projects. Additionally, the Community and Economic Development Coordinator assists small businesses and prospective business owners with Town development requirements, permitting procedures, zoning regulations, business licensing, and related processes.
Qualified applicants should possess a Bachelor's degree in urban planning, public administration, economic development, business administration, community development, or a related field; supplemented by three to five years of progressively responsible experience in planning, zoning, development services, economic development, municipal government, or a related field; or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities. A valid South Carolina driver’s license is required.
