Role Description The Economic Development role is a full-time, on-site position based in New Brunswick, NJ, focused on supporting and advancing the County’s economic growth strategies. Day-to-day responsibilities include researching market and industry trends, analyzing data to identify opportunities, and assisting in the development and implementation of programs that attract and retain businesses. The role coordinates with local employers, educational institutions, and community organizations to promote workforce development, business expansion, and strategic partnerships. The position involves preparing reports, presentations, and outreach materials, participating in meetings and public events, and helping manage projects that enhance the County’s economic competitiveness. The individual will collaborate with internal County departments and external stakeholders to ensure initiatives align with broader community and policy objectives.
Qualifications
- Demonstrated skills in economic and market research, data analysis, and interpreting economic trends.
- Experience with project coordination, program development, and stakeholder engagement in a government, nonprofit, or economic development setting.
- Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, presentations, and outreach materials for diverse audiences.
- Ability to build and maintain collaborative relationships with businesses, educational institutions, community groups, and governmental agencies.
- Proficiency with office productivity tools and basic data management or visualization software; familiarity with GIS or economic data platforms is a plus.
- Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to handle multiple projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Public Administration, Urban Planning, Business, or a related field; relevant professional experience may be considered in lieu of a specific major.
- Knowledge of regional economic issues, workforce development, and business retention/attraction strategies is preferred.
