General Function
Responsible for the organization and delivery of recreation programs and events at city parks; includes preparing contracts for event vendors and sports leagues; planning, coordinating, and delivery of outdoor events such as sports, games, leisure activities, and special events. At times, this employee may act as a park manager and oversee daily operations, supervising and directing programs and minor maintenance. The employee receives general supervision from the Operations Manager, with independence allowed in the performance of routine tasks.

Essential Duties And Responsibilities
- Plans, organizes, and delivers special events, movie nights, and recreational program activities at designated City parks; performs related tasks as required.
- Coordinates specialized contracted instructors for various recreational offerings including but not limited to fitness, dance, yoga, arts, and senior programs.
- Maintains the Parks S.W.A.T. (Super Wacky Activities Truck) truck scheduling, operation, and supplies.
- Organizes and supervises competitive sports programs and leagues as required.
- Prepares contracts for event services, sports leagues, and other park items
- Assists in the coordination of maintenance schedules for special events and city programs and functions.
- Assists with supervising maintenance and care of park grounds and City property
- Supervises staff.
- Prepares reports as required by supervisor.
- Makes recommendations on specifications/purchases of equipment and supplies
- Performs other job-related duties as required by supervisor.

Type Of Appointment/Work Hours
- Full-time/Regular in-person position.
- Standard workweek, which is forty (40) hours of work per week usually consisting of five (5) days of eight (8) hours per day or four (4) days of ten (10) hours per day. The workday may be varied for the efficient delivery of public service.
- Will be required to work other than the standard workweek on occasion, including evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
- Will be required to work occasional overtime or shift assignments, if applicable.

Requirements
- Bachelor’s Degree in Parks and Recreation Management, Sports Management, Business Administration, or a related field from an accredited College or University is required.
- Three (3) years of experience in park and recreation management or sports facility management required.
- Must be able to work evening hours and/or weekends.
- Exposure to inclement weather conditions (i.e., prolonged sun exposure, high temperatures, rain, etc.)
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 30 lbs.
- Must possess a valid state of Florida driver's license with a clean driving record.
- As a condition of hire, applicants must undergo a comprehensive fingerprint-based background screen for statewide and national criminal history records (i.e., a Level II background check).

Work Authorization/Security Clearance
- The employee must successfully pass a background screening process and comply with the City’s Drug-Free Workplace policy.
- The City will also verify the identity and employment authorization of individuals hired so the proper completion of Form I-9 is required, which includes the employee providing documents evidencing identity and employment authorization.
