PAY AND BENEFITS
Annual Pay Range: $91,537.25 - $116,175.14
Hourly Pay Range: $44.008292 - $55.853432
Salary offers will be made within the posted pay range and will be based on a candidate's experience (paid or unpaid) that is directly relevant to the position.

JOB DETAILS AND QUALIFICATIONS
The Clackamas County Department of Transportation & Development is seeking an experienced survey professional to join our County Surveyor Program as a Senior Land Surveyor.
If selected for this advanced journey level position, you will lead the work of professional Land Surveyors in the transportation surveying work group including providing daily work direction, checking completed work, and providing training. Duties also involve providing expertise, guidance and assistance with project survey activities including preparing field notes, drawings, maps, legal descriptions, property ownership records, construction staking, and monumental recovery and boundary surveys.
We are looking for someone with excellent organization, time management, communication and interpersonal skills and the ability to lead a cohesive team-oriented work group. The successful candidate will be able to contribute positively to the daily operations of the program and work collaboratively with the team, other departments within the county, and the public.
Required Minimum Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*
• A minimum of two (2) years of relevant land surveying experience that would provide the required knowledge and skills to perform the responsibilities of this position
• Experience researching and analyzing public survey records, complex legal descriptions and survey maps
• Experience reviewing records of survey, plats, property descriptions and exhibits, and site design plans for completeness, accuracy, and compliance to rules and regulations
• Experience communicating technical information both orally and in writing to a wide range of audiences, including citizens, fellow employees, management and/or representatives from other departments or agencies
• Experience using Microsoft Office, including Word and Excel
• Experience using drafting programs, such as AutoCAD or other software relating to survey, engineering drafting and designing
Preferred Special Qualifications/ Transferrable Skills:*
• A minimum of four (4) years of relevant land surveying experience that would provide the required knowledge and skills to perform the responsibilities of this position
• A minimum of two (2) years of experience leading the work of others, including providing daily work direction, checking completed work, and providing training
• Experience providing professional land surveying services and leading survey crews for roadway design and construction staking
• Experience with software programs such as Blue Beam, StarNet, Traverse PC, ARC GIS Pro, and/or Trimble Business Center
Pre-Employment Requirements:
• Must pass a post-offer physical assessment; accommodation requests will be reviewed on an individual bases in compliance with State and Federal legislation.
• Driving is required for County business on a regular basis or to accomplish work. Required Licenses/Certifications:
The following licensure/certification is requires at the time of hire:
• Valid and active registration as a Professional Land Surveyor in any state (US) at time of hire. Incumbent must be registered as a Professional Surveyor in the State of Oregon within six months of hire and maintain a valid and active license as a Professional Land Surveyor by the State of Oregon throughout the course of employment, as required by
statute.

TYPICAL TASKS
Typical tasks include, but are not limited to:
• Performs lead worker responsibilities for other surveying staff, which may include providing general instruction, assigning and reviewing work, coaching and training, providing guidance and instruction in the proper and most efficient methods of accomplishing tasks, and providing input to the direct supervisor on staffing decisions and performance management.
• Performs mathematical computations for field layout and land surveying calculations that require professional judgment to determine right-of-way and land corner positions.
• Reviews construction surveys, road right-of-way, vacation and legalization surveys and other public surveys; compiles, coordinates and analyzes field data collection.
• Conducts research and preparation on drawings, maps, legal descriptions, property ownerships, records, reports, and correspondence.
• Provides professional land surveying services and leads survey crews for roadway design, construction staking, and other purposes when needed.
• Check maps and survey documents submitted for completeness, accuracy and conformity to accepted surveying practices, and other legal requirements; certifies survey documents with seal and signature prior to official recording.
WORKING CONDITIONS
Duties in the field require frequent walking, stepping, squatting, kneeling, bending, twisting, digging, swinging, balancing, grasping, fine motor control, and the ability to lift and carry up to 90 pounds, including carrying 60 pounds on one shoulder. Duties also involve occasional exposure to slippery and/or uneven surfaces including steep terrain, loud noises, vibration, exhaust fumes and dust, and adverse weather conditions.
WORK SCHEDULE
This position works 40 hours during a standard workweek of Monday through Friday. Specific hours of work will be discussed with the candidate selected for this position at the time an offer of employment is extended.

The exact amount of on-site/telework and schedule will be discussed with the hiring manager during time of offer. Telework locations cannot be located outside of Oregon or Washington.
