CHARACTERISITICS OF THE WORK
Under general supervision, performs a variety of skilled facility maintenance and repair work at all Family Health Centers (FHC) facility sites.
EXAMPLES OF THE WORK (These statements are intended to be illustrations of the work of this class.)
Maintains, repairs, and replaces plumbing systems and fixtures, such as faucets, drinking fountains, water heaters, water closets, urinals, water regulators, and pressure valves.
Monitors and maintains boilers and generators.
Maintains, repairs, and/or replaces electrical systems, including light switches, outlets, interior and exterior light fixtures, electrical panels and light bulbs.
Installs and repairs door lock sets and padlocks, and cuts keys.
Performs minor carpentry and trim and finish work, including work on walls, doors, windows, cabinets, shelving, and furniture.
Paints or stains interiors, exteriors, and furniture of various materials.
Performs welding, masonry, flooring, and general repair work on buildings and furniture.
Ensures the proper disposal of biohazardous waste.
Operates heavy equipment as needed.
Performs custodial and/or grounds keeping duties as needed.
Performs related work.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSHigh school diploma or its equivalent.
Two years of general maintenance or related work experience.
An equivalent combination of education and experience may be substituted, as determined applicable by Civil Service.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS AND WORKING CONDITIONS
Drives and operates power equipment and hand tools used in building maintenance and repair.
Lifts and/or carries tools and equipment weighing up to 100 lbs.
Spends extended periods of time standing, walking, climbing, carrying and/or stooping.
Spends prolonged periods of time exposed to various weather conditions.
Performs visual inspections of equipment and structures.
Works at locations with limited or difficult access, including uneven terrain.
SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
Must possess and maintain a valid driver's license.
Must provide own transportation to work at other FHC locations as needed.
Must be available to work mandatory overtime as needed.
Responds to maintenance emergencies, including those that occur after regular working hours.
