Under general supervision, perform general repairs and welding on City vehicles/equipment.
Perform other related work as required.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:
Perform general repairs on City vehicles/equipment, including (but not limited to): electrical repairs;
brake repairs; general engine repairs; install accessories or other components as requested, general
welding repairs and modifications on City vehicles/equipment. Make emergency repairs
on City vehicles/equipment in the field. Assist other Fleet Technicians as requested. Reads write,
and converse in the English language. Communicate courteously and effectively with other city
employees, officials, vendors, and the public. Account for labor and materials to departments on
Work Orders. Display good decision making ability Crawl under and/or climb on vehicles for
inspections. Operate a large variety of City vehicles and equipment. Lift, pull and/or push up to 100
pounds of parts inventory. Sit, stand, stoop, twist and/or walk for extended periods of time during
vehicle inspections. Work both indoors and outdoors, including in adverse weather conditions such
as extreme cold, heat and temperature swings. Use appropriate safety precautions in performance of
job duties.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, DEGREES. CERTIFICATES, AND/OR LICENSES:
High School Diploma or G.E.D required. Texas Class A Commercial Operator's License (CDL)
required. Texas Class C Drivers License acceptable if applicant has also passed the written
portion of Class A CDL test. Must obtain Texas Class A CDL within six months of assignment to
position. Must have three current A.S.E. certifications. Any Emergency Vehicle Technician
Certification can be substituted for any one ASE certification. May substitute AWS Welding
Certification for one ASE or EVT certification. Certifications must be kept current, and renewed
in a timely manner.

EXPERIENCE, TRAINING, KNOWLEDGE, AND SKILLS:
Three years experience required as a Fleet Technician III with the City of Richardson; or three years
of verifiable experience required working as a technician in another fleet or retail automotive
environment. Knowledge of general welding procedures in automotive or construction field
preferred.
