About Our Department
Huntsville Animal Services provides sheltering, enforcement, and prevention services for Huntsville and the unincorporated areas of Madison County. In partnership with community organizations, Animal Services provides a safety net for lost and homeless pets and is committed to sustaining the City's goal of finding live outcomes for at least 90 percent of the companion animals that enter the shelter each year. We enforce animal regulations, including state mandated rabies control and all local municipal ordinances, and we are focused on prevention?based service provisions aimed at assisting citizens in complying with regulations.
Animal Care and Shelter Attendant Position Overview
This is manual and specialized work responsible for the proper care of animals and sanitation and operation of animal holding areas consistent with City of Huntsville Animal Services Department guidelines. Work also involves providing customer service by responding to questions regarding animal adoptions, lost/found animals, animal intake, animal behavior and other related questions to Animal Services.
Necessary Special Requirements
A valid driver's license is required.
Desired Special Requirements
Euthanasia Technician Certification through the Alabama State Board of Veterinary Medical Examiners.
