Our Code Administrator enforces City ordinances related to nuisances, public health, safety, and land use.
The salary range for this position is $28.08 - $37.90 per hour with a hiring range of $28.08 - $32.99 per hour, depending on qualifications and experience.

Essential Functions
- Inform and educate the public regarding nuisance regulations, code requirements and procedures.
- Provide guidance to citizens to facilitate the remedy of code violations.
- Respond to code complaints and thoroughly investigate each complaint to determine if violations exist.
- File case investigation reports and maintain thorough records.
- Issue citations for violations when remedies are ineffective.
- Coordinate with various departments to resolve code violations, including prosecutor for violations requiring Municipal Court proceedings.
- Prepare communications informing leadership of significant code enforcement efforts.
Other Job Functions
- Develop innovative improvements to the code enforcement process.
- Facilitate public awareness of code enforcement and its benefit to the community.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Required Education: High School or GED
Preferred Education: 2-Year Associate Degree or 4-Year Bachelor's Degree in a related field
Required Experience: 2 years of progressively responsible experience with ordinance enforcement, zoning administration, land use inspections, property management or similar experience.
Certifications

- Possession of International Property Management Code certification, or ability to obtain within six (6) months of hire
- Must possess valid driver's license
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
- Ability to remain calm, clear and helpful in a wide range of situations, including confrontational situations.
- Enforce regulations with fairness, clarity, courtesy and tact.
- Strong understanding of nuisance regulations and related codes and communicate relevant code standards concisely and clearly.
- Maintain a positive outlook when dealing with reoccurring stressful situations
- Ability to write quickly and clearly.
- Fundamental understanding of Building and Planning Codes preferred.
- Fundamental understanding of municipal government operations preferred.
Working Environment
- Frequent exposure to routine office noise and equipment.
- Occasional exposure to hazards typically found in general office environments where there is rarely to no exposure to injury or accident.
