Chief Financial Officer (CFO) – Position based in Dallas, TX

About the Role
This CFO role oversees forecasting, financial planning, and analysis, which are crucial for informed decision-making across the organization. The ideal candidate will be an analytical thinker with extensive experience in FP&A, financial systems, and modeling, and will focus on driving financial performance, optimizing budgeting processes, and providing valuable insights at both operational and strategic levels.
Key Responsibilities
Financial Planning & Analysis
- Lead the development, implementation, and monitoring of financial planning processes, including annual budgets, forecasts, and long-term financial plans
- Oversee enterprise risk management, ensuring robust processes are in place to identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks
- Conduct variance analysis to identify key drivers impacting financial performance and provide actionable recommendations for improvement
- Develop and maintain sophisticated financial models to support decision-making and scenario planning
- Collaborate cross-functionally to gather relevant data and enhance the accuracy and effectiveness of financial information
Business Insights & Strategic Decision Support
- Influence and guide long-term strategic decisions that align with the company’s growth objectives and financial goals
- Partner with senior leadership to provide financial insights that support strategic initiatives, investments, and business decisions
- Assess the financial implications of potential opportunities, risks, and challenges, and recommend appropriate courses of action
- Conduct ad-hoc analysis to address specific business questions raised by stakeholders
- Stay informed of industry trends, competitive dynamics, and economic factors affecting the organization’s financial performance
Performance Measurement & Reporting
- Establish key performance indicators (KPIs) and benchmarks to evaluate business performance and monitor progress against financial objectives
- Lead a high-performing finance team, providing mentorship and guidance
- Prepare and deliver timely, accurate, and insightful financial reports and presentations for senior management and board meetings
- Identify opportunities for process improvements and automation to enhance the efficiency of financial reporting
Compliance & Data Integrity
- Manage the data strategy team to ensure a consistent and accurate flow of information to all stakeholders
- Ensure that the Accounting and Finance teams meet all compliance deadlines
Team Leadership & Development
- Provide leadership and direction to the finance team, fostering a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, and accountability
- Set clear performance expectations for team members and conduct regular evaluations and career development discussions
- Encourage knowledge sharing and cross-training to maintain a high-performing and resilient finance team
- Foster a culture of transparency, collaboration, and innovation within the finance team and across the organization
- Lead initiatives to enhance the company’s sustainability efforts, aligning financial strategies with company goals
Key Qualifications
- 10+ years of experience in a similar role with responsibility of budgets of at least $100M
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required
- Master’s/Graduate degree preferred
- CPA certification preferred
- Advanced proficiency in financial modeling, Excel, and other analytical tools; i.e. SAP Financial Data Management experience preferred
- Nonprofit company experience highly desirable
- Strong leadership skills in financial strategy, with a focus on fiduciary responsibility and compliance
- Ability to translate business and strategic goals into actionable plans
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications and cloud-based ERP systems
- High level of integrity, superior leadership, communication, time management, and change management skills
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation: Up to $250,000 per year, based on experience
