Under close supervision, performs service work of routine difficulty in a variety of capacities in support of County road construction, maintenance and repair work; maintains and services equipment; prepares and installs road signs; performs traffic control and flagging work; assists with general labor such as trimming trees/brush, cutting weeds, blowing, removing/installing fences, painting speed bumps, and transporting equipment and supplies to and from work sites; and performs other duties as assigned.
Education and Experience:- High School Diploma/GED Certification from an accredited institution and six months experience providing service to the general public in a construction, maintenance, or similar work environment that includes familiarity with rural addressing and geography and experience performing minor servicing of equipment and general laborer work.
Required Licenses or Certifications- Valid New Mexico driver's license or ability to obtain a valid New Mexico driver's license within 30 days of hire.

This position is safety sensitive and subject to random alcohol and drug testing in accordance with Sandoval County Personnel Rules & Regulations Article XIII Drug and Alcohol Policy and Testing-Drug Free Workplace. - Maintains and services vehicles and equipment on a daily basis in accordance with regulations and maintenance and repair manuals; performs limited mechanical servicing including greasing of equipment when needed, minor maintenance, including preventative maintenance such as monitoring and checking tire pressure, installing chains, washing windshields and equipment, checking oil levels and other fluids, and fueling equipment as needed; identifies equipment problems and reports them to the supervisor.
- Prepares and installs road signs throughout the County; prepares for installation by collecting necessary hardware and tools needed to complete the installation; digs post holes and properly installs sign in designated location.
- Safely operates light duty trucks and other non-CDL vehicles for the purpose of transporting machinery and miscellaneous equipment and supplies to and from work sites.
- Assists in patching roadways and in repairing bridges, filling potholes, installing guardrails, clearing culverts, placing "rip rap" in ditches and drainage areas, assisting with snow removal, brush and weed control, and other general work projects.
- Loads and unloads various types of maintenance materials and equipment; assists with replacing or fixing tires and other minor field maintenance and repair work.
- Performs duties as a general laborer/helper including assisting with traffic control devices and performing traffic control in work zones; sets up work zones including signs, cones, and barricades for hazardous road conditions; performs flagging duties as needed; operates a variety of hand and power tools to perform tasks including shovels, rakes, axes, picks, chain saws, digging bars, hand-weed trimmers, and other various hand tools; and keeps equipment and hand tools clean inside and out; and maintains work area and yard clean and trimmed.
- Responds to emergencies and call outs as necessary.
