OVERVIEW OF POSITION / DEPARTMENT
The Quartermaster position reports to the Manager of Equipment, Facilities, and Fleet. The Quartermaster’s primary responsibility is the purchase and distribution of equipment and uniforms to sworn and non-sworn employees of the department. Contained within the responsibilities of purchasing and distributing is evaluating, tracking, maintaining, pick up, delivery and replacing department owned equipment and uniforms.
The hiring range for this position is $71,280.00 - $89,100.00 annually.

PRIMARY DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES
- Manages supplies, equipment, uniforms, and re-stocking as needed.
- Inventory control and physical count of stock items to include pick up and deliveries as needed.
- Received, unpacks, inspects and verifies quality and quantity of supplies against packing list or invoice.
- Ensure shipping paperwork and invoices are accurate and received in inventory system in alignment with stock items.
- Manages expiration dates of all city issued equipment to sworn and non-sworn
- Has a forward vision to replacing all expiring ballistic owned equipment (helmets, rifle plates)
- Must be able to visually present new ideas to the Manager of Equipment, Facilities, and Fleet, other City Departments, and vendors.
- Maintains and ensures the security of the stockroom.
- Cleans and maintains orderliness of storage areas.
- Point of contact for the Federal 1033 Program.
- Point of contact for E-470.
- Point of contact for all car wash accounts.
- Obtains and distributes registration tabs for covert plates for the police fleet.
- Making police Commissions ID’s and building passes for all police employees.
- When needed assisting with light construction within the building. Such as maintenance, moving desks/offices, and shelving.
- Is the agency point of contact for maintenance needs throughout the agency.
- Assists in managing the police fleet and will often have to drive police vehicles both marked and unmarked
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
- High School diploma or GED.
Experience:
- At least 2 years’ experience in inventory management, including work including purchasing and warehousing.
- Desirable experience in law enforcement
Knowledge:
- Inventory management of shipping and receiving processes sufficient to be able to monitor received and missing items.
- City purchasing procedures.
- In depth knowledge of specific police equipment and supplies.
- Safety hazards and necessary safety precautions sufficient to be able to establish a safe work environment for self and others.
Skills:
- Strong interpersonal and managerial skills.
- Skill in the use of windows-based programs and specifically Excel.
- Strong customer service skills.
- Skill in customer relations and crisis communications management.
- Skill in checking information for accuracy and completeness and correcting errors
- Skill in inventory management software
Abilities:
- Establish and maintain effective working relationships with employees, all levels of management, and outside vendors.
- Handle sensitive situations with tact and diplomacy, specifically terminations and resignations.
- Communicate effectively both orally and in writing.

- Frequently walk and stand as well as push, pull, lift, and carry objects weighing up to 50 pounds.
- Frequently loading and unloading supplies from a vehicle.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL
- When a local announcement of emergency or disaster is declared by the City, all City of Aurora employees may be required to work as essential personnel.
