Position Overview
As the Director of Technology, you will lead the strategic planning, development, and implementation of cutting-edge technology solutions that enhance our agency’s capabilities and community services. While experience in public safety is helpful, it is not required. We encourage candidates from private industry who have excelled in leading high-tech systems and solutions, can think outside traditional paradigms, and are eager to tackle complex challenges with fresh perspectives.
In this role, you will translate agency needs into tangible, actionable initiatives—ensuring that technology is leveraged in innovative ways to address issues, improve operations, maintain up-time, improve systems resiliency and continuously improve our delivery of outstanding public services. You’ll collaborate closely with leadership and multiple departments to craft a unified technology vision that resonates across our organization.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Develop and implement a cohesive technology vision that addresses immediate needs and sets the foundation for future growth.
- Innovation & Collaboration: Collaborate with internally and with our 43 Fire/EMS & Law Enforcement agencies to understand their requirements and envision breakthrough solutions that challenge conventional paradigms.
- Project Management: Oversee large-scale initiatives from inception to completion, ensuring on-time and on-budget delivery of transformative projects.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Communicate complex technical concepts to non-technical audiences, building consensus and generating buy-in for technology strategies.
- Team Development: Lead, mentor, and inspire a remarkable team of passionate public safety technology professionals, fostering a culture of creativity, collaboration, and excellence.
- Continuous Improvement: Stay ahead of industry trends and emerging technologies, proactively recommending strategies to improve operational efficiency and service delivery.
Qualifications
- Proven track record of leading innovative technology initiatives in either public or private sectors.
- Exceptional ability to collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and articulate technical solutions in clear, strategic terms.
- Strong project management skills, with experience guiding complex technology projects or systems from planning through implementation.
- Demonstrated success in building relationships with stakeholders at all levels, including executives, managers, and frontline staff.
- Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, Management Information Systems, or equivalent experience.

We offer a highly competitive salary ranging from $161,091 to $215,877, complemented by an excellent benefits package helping us recruit the best and brightest.
