The minimum age for all positions is 17 or older. Candidates under the age of 18 must have a HS Diploma or GED & written parental consent.
OUR POSITION
The Recreation Aide, under general supervision, assists in planning and operating various city recreation programs, supervises youth in recreational settings, and performs light clerical duties. This role involves organizing and conducting activities in areas such as youth, sports, senior programs, special and seasonal events, and facility rentals. Recreation Aides help create enriching environments that offer recreational, educational, and social opportunities for the community. IDEAL CANDIDATE
The ideal candidate for the Recreation Aide position is an enthusiastic and dedicated individual with some experience in a related field, whether paid or volunteer. They should have a solid understanding of recreational activities and programs, sports fundamentals, and safety practices, such as CPR and first aid. The candidate must possess strong organizational and communication skills, both oral and written, to effectively plan and lead recreational programs for various age groups. They should be able to work a flexible schedule, including weekends, evenings, and holidays, and have the ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with colleagues, participants, and the community. Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills are highly desirable, adding value to their ability to serve a diverse population.
Minimum Qualifications
A typical way of obtaining the knowledge, skills and abilities outlined above is graduation from high school, or G.E.D. equivalent; and some paid or volunteer experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of training and experience.
Must obtain CPR/First Aid certification within six (6) months of hire.
