Description
Boulder County Parks and Open Space Department is seeking to hire a
Computing Specialist II. The Computing Specialist II performs a variety of complex technical duties in the design, installation, and management of countywide personal computers (PCs), software applications, operating systems, telephone support, and network environment. The primary duty of position includes the exercise of discretion and independent judgment with respect to matters of significance.
This is a
full-time, benefited or non-benefited position that will work
Monday - Thursday 8:00am - 6:30pm, schedule is negotiable. This position will work out of
5201 St. Vrain Road Longmont, Colorado. Under Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA) guidelines, this position is
exempt.
Boulder County requires its employees to reside in the state of Colorado as of the first day of work.
Hiring Salary Range: $68,976.00 - $84,138.00 Annually
Tentative Hiring Timeline
- Phone Screening: Week of February 10th
- First Round Interviews: Week of February 24th
- Second Round Interviews: Week of March 3rd
- Reference Check: Week of March 3rd
New employees receive an
80-hour bank of vacation at the time of hire, in addition to 8 hours of both vacation and medical leave accruals each month

Examples of Duties
- Installs PC hardware and software, including operating system, applications, and peripherals
- Troubleshooting technology problems
- Provides technical information to users requesting assistance and researches related technology, when needed
- Supports network printing and multi-function device (MFDs)
- Supports conference room and audio/video (A/V) technology
- May manage implementation of operating system (OS) and application upgrades
- Support deployment of new technology
- May assist in providing training, as needed
- Develops and writes technology standards and procedures
- Performs related work, as required
- May be reassigned during emergency situations

Preferred Qualifications
- 2 years of experience in a help desk, technical support, or desktop support position
- 2 years of experience supporting Microsoft Office 365 products.
Knowledge, Skills, & Abilities
- Thorough knowledge of supported hardware and software systems.
- Ability to troubleshoot and solve a variety of technical problems
- Ability to communicate procedures of a technical nature to non-technical personnel both orally and in written form
- Ability to perform a variety of project tasks requiring good communications skills
- Ability to work effectively with other employees
- Ability to train users to use new technology
- Basic A/V and videoconferencing technology skills
- Basic knowledge of cloud file storage (Microsoft Teams/SharePoint)

- Position requires occasional lifting of up to 50 lbs.

- Vacation and Medical leave are based off of full time FTE accruals. Part-time FTE/term employees accrue leave based on the percentage of time they work.
