Here's a Summary Of Responsibilities
TheCounsel, Dispute Resolutionis the legal counselresponsiblefor administering and managing all USOPC dispute resolution matters. TheCounselis also responsible forleading and expandingtheUSOPC'sDispute Resolution Unit(DRU)bycreatingand implementingimproved DRU processes,rules,policies,and procedures.
In close collaboration with and reporting to the Associate General Counsel, Litigation & Dispute Resolution (AGC), the Counsel is responsible for collaborating with and supporting other Legal department membersin carrying out the team's duties and functions. The Counsel will also supportUSOPC leadership in increasing informal resolution efforts and processes with athletes and NGBs, providing subject matter expertise to Games delegations, and educating various Olympic andParalympic constituent groups onthe availabledispute resolution functions and resources.

- Dispute Resolution Unit
- Lead theadministration andmanagement ofdispute resolutionmatters, includingoversight andexecutionofUSOPC BylawsSection 8, 9, 10, and 11complaints,grievances filed withinternallymanaged sports,Games, and Trialsmatters, and other matters that arise.Maintainthe case management system and historical data to track cases, deliverables, deadlines, and outcomes of all complaints filed with DRU.
- Serve astheprimary case management contact with parties, party representatives, representatives fromthearbitral body, representatives from theOffice ofAthlete Ombuds,arbitrators, mediators, hearing panel members,or others.
- Managethecomplaint processbyenhancing case initiation mechanisms,reviewing complaint filingsandparty submissions, and promptly corresponding with parties and their representatives. Ensure that all procedural requirements and timeframes regarding processing complaints and other filings are met.
- In collaboration with theAGC,provide legal support and guidance on policy and other matters relating to DRU efforts. Makeinformed and professionaldecisions onissueswithin the scope of the USOPC Bylaws and DRU policies, rules, and procedures.Utilize discretion and independent judgment by applying high-level knowledge and understanding of theTed Stevens Olympic and Amateur Sports Act, USOPC Bylaws,policies, rules, and procedures.
- Manageall aspects ofhearing panel matters, includingassessingpossiblehearing panel members for relevant experienceandpotential appointment;preparing hearing panel members for proceedings on key decisions, points of clarification, and precedent;facilitating hearing panel administrative conferences, preliminary hearings, and evidentiary hearings; and assisting hearing panels with draftingorders and decisions.
- Proactively identify DRU case administration and management improvements, working closely with internaland keyconstituents to execute timely and cost-effective improvements.
- Work closely with the arbitral body to managethe arbitratorpool and develop and cultivate solid relationships withthe Team USA Athletes' Commission and National Governing Bodies Councilregarding arbitrator appointments and related matters.
- Leadthedevelopment and implementation of annualeducational training forarbitrators and hearing panels.Ensure thatneutralsremain current on all trainingrequirements(including educational, platform,andSafeSporttraining) and background checks.
- Collaborating with the Legal and Compliance departments, develop and present resources to athletes and NGBs to help them better understand DRU matters.
- Developand implementa mediation or other alternative resolutionprogram andsource forfeedback from key constituents and USOPC leadership.Collaboratewith the Office of the Ombuds indevelopingthe program tomaximize the beneficial use ofalternativeresolutionpractices for alltypes ofcomplaint processes.
- Refine and improve DRU operations, policies,and procedures as necessaryin collaboration with theAGC. Document and update published policies and procedures.
- Managethedispute resolution content onthe USOPC websiteby ensuring that allSections8,9, 10, and 11Awards, Orders,Reports, and Recommendationsarepromptly postedin the correct citation format and in accordance with the USOPC Bylaws.
- Leadspecialprojects and initiatives fordispute resolution asnecessary.
- Other Legal Support
- Provide legal supportand guidanceto other practice areas on complex legal issues, as requested by attorneys on the Legal team, including but not limited to Delegation inquiries, to ensure effective and efficient cross-divisionallegal decisions are implemented.
Here are the skills and experience you'll need to be effective:
- Bachelor's degree
- Juris Doctor degree
- Admitted to practice law in the State of Colorado or the ability to obtain membership in a reasonable amount of time
- Absence of adverse disciplinary history concerning law license(s)
- 3+years ofrelevant experience inlegal, court,and/oralternativedispute resolutionenvironments, preferablywithsome experience at alawfirm and/or corporate environment
- Proven record of continuing innovation, strong leadership,andhigh achievement
- In-depth knowledge of alternative dispute resolution rules, procedures, and case management best practices
- Excellentwritten and verbalcommunication skills, including the ability to effectively and professionally interact with parties, Counsel, neutrals, and colleagues
- Analytical and problem-solving skills to assess case issues, recommend solutions, and make sound decisions
- Strong customer service mindsetand interpersonal skills
- Ability to work with direction from multiple sources
- Ability to be flexible in a fast-paced environment
- Ability to maintain absolute confidentiality, to perform duties with utmost discretion,and to act with complete integrity
- Attention to detailandstrong organizational skills to handle multiple cases, meet deadlines, and deliver quality service

Here's Some More Information You Need To Know
- Hiring Pay Range:$102,086 - $129,649 per year.
- This full-time, non-exempt position is intended to work 40 hours per week.
- Bonus: This position is eligible for the Annual Incentive Award Program witha 15% target. The USOPC may change or eliminate this program at any time at its sole discretion.
