ASSISTANT EMERGENCY MANAGEMENT COORDINATOR
DEPARTMENT: FIRE
Duties include assisting with all aspects of the City’s emergency management programs – planning, developing, coordinating and directing comprehensive programs; updating the City’s emergency operations plan; controlling emergency management and disaster relief operations and training activities; conducting emergency preparedness exercises; and serving as a key member on the Community Risk Reduction Team. Duties also include preparing warning and preparedness materials; writing and administering grants; making presentations to City officials, the media and the public; and activating the Emergency Operations Center when necessary. A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in Emergency Management, Business or Public Administration, or a related field is required. Must have a minimum of four years of experience in a state, county or city emergency management program, as well as one year supervisory or lead experience; and have knowledge of disaster preparedness laws and regulations. Emergency Management certification (TEM and / or CEM) is preferred. Must have, or be able to obtain, a valid Texas driver’s license and be able to provide expedient 24-hour on-call support for emergencies. Duties involve access to sensitive Criminal Justice Information Systems (CJIS), which requires that a thorough background check be conducted. Candidates will be subject to a polygraph exam and criminal history check. In accordance with CJIS requirements, must not have any criminal conviction as an adult or juvenile above the grade of a Class B misdemeanor or any Class B misdemeanor within the past 10 years; other convictions may also be considered.A résumé must be submitted with application.
PAY GRADE GG23 / FULL PAY RANGE $5,823 - $8,210 PER MONTH ($69,876 - $98,520 ANNUALLY)
