UTILITIES INTERN (SUMMER)
DEPARTMENT: WATER UTILITIES
This position will rotate through shifts with environmental compliance, water conservation / leak detection, field operations, SCADA, engineering, business operations and other water functions in order to learn more about the scope of work performed in the Water Utilities industry; and, will offer a unique opportunity to learn about maintenance of water and wastewater systems and gain experience in performing hands-on work in both water and wastewater utilities. Duties include working with assigned field operations crews in the maintenance and repair of water distribution and wastewater collection lines and related appurtenances; preparing for and conducting sampling, maintaining and installing sampling equipment and performing basic tasks in support of environmental compliance operations; responding to the full scope of customer issues and complaints; learning basic water service maintenance and SSO response; recording data and completing data input into computer programs; cleaning, servicing and maintaining tools, machinery, equipment and vehicles; and participating in public education events including summer camps at recreation centers. Must be able to read and write at a level necessary for successful job performance, and currently be enrolled in high school or college, or graduated within the past year. Hours will be Monday through Friday, flexible from 7:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. on a week to week basis depending on the work group assigned. PAY GRADE SA10 / FULL PAY RANGE $17.60 - $18.85 PER HOUR
