Join the Medford Police Department as a Community Engagement Officer and make a difference!
As a Community Service Officer dedicated to Community Engagement, you'll coordinate and provide direction to our volunteer staff, acting as the pivotal link between the police department and groups like Neighborhood Watch.
This role is dynamic and highly visible to the community, assisting with city sponsored events and the organization and planning of Medford Police Department outreach events. You'll be involved in public speaking, educating the community on police-related issues, and building strong relationships with various community partners. In addition, you’ll respond to complaints and facilitate problem-solving techniques on safety and livability related issues making a significant impact in enhancing community life. Minimum qualifications for this position include:
- Graduation from high school or GED equivalent; and
- Be 18 years of age by date of hire with no felony convictions; and
- Have a valid driver's license by date of hire; and
- Successfully passes a comprehensive background investigation.
Preferred qualifications:
- Experience in public speaking and presenting.
- Knowledge of the concepts and principles of Law Enforcement and the Criminal Justice System.
Available schedules:
- Monday - Friday, 8 hours/day; or
- 4 - 10 hour/days

The anticipated hiring range for this position is $28.34 (first step) to $29.77 or $31.25 (second or third step). Directly related experience and qualifications will be evaluated alongside others who perform work of comparable character as required by Pay Equity Law. Six steps are included in this salary range, allowing opportunity for annual movement through the steps.
Potential Pay Differentials:
- English/Spanish bilingual proficiency 4.5%
- College credits up to 10% for a bachelor’s degree
