The City of Auburn Finance department is looking for a talented Field Compliance Auditor to join our team. The duties include a variety of technical and financial duties associated with the administration of the City’s Business and Occupation (B&O) tax program. This position performs complex, large compliance projects and audits. Work is characterized by a substantial volume of independent and professional work with limited supervision.

OUR CITY

In this role you will:
- Investigate and inspect businesses for license and tax compliance.
- Independently audits businesses from small to large corporations with complex data.
- Develop and create reports and compiles complex data from a variety of sources.
- Conduct discovery of unlicensed businesses.
- Assists in developing, updating, maintaining, and reconciling the City’s tax database.
- Process refund requests and balance due billings.
- Assists in the development and maintenance of the City’s B&O tax and licensing ordinances, tax guides, procedures, and other documents governing the City’s B&O tax.

Minimum Qualifications
We are looking for candidates who have:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or closely related field
AND
- Three (3) years of revenue auditing or professional public accounting or bookkeeping experience; OR
- Two (2) years of Washington Municipal B&O Tax auditing experience.
We would LOVE it if you had...
- Audit experience with municipal accounting and/or Washington State municipal B&O Tax experience.
- Revenue compliance experience in related fields.
- A Certified Public Accounting (CPA) License
CERTIFICATIONS AND LICENSES
- Possess and retain a valid state driver’s license with no impending loss at time of appointment.
- Successful passing of a required background and credit check
