This position manages all aspects of creative output for the agency to support marketing communications (MARCOM), including but not limited to short-form and long-form content development, digital and printed assets, advertising, photography, video and live auditorium productions. This position requires strong project management, communications and supervisory skills. This position reports to the Recycling, Education & Marketing Manager and requires reliability, dependability, and accountability in all aspects of the defined role.

- Manages a team responsible for the creation of various collateral used across a variety of traditional and nontraditional platforms and methods, such as but not limited to web, social media, radio and TV advertising, presentations, direct mail, print publications, signage and displays.
- Works closely with the Recycling, Education & Marketing Manager to understand strategy, scope, and expectations for projects to effectively support the execution of marketing communications campaigns on time and within budget.
- Coordinates requirements gathering meetings to understand and plan creative support for agency-wide initiatives.
- Manages the workflow of multiple creative projects simultaneously, prioritizing tasks and meeting deadlines, while overseeing the workload of the Creative Team, ensuring accountability as creative assets are developed and produced.
- Develops content, creative design and output necessary to effectively communicate the agency's mission, goals, and activities in all media forms.
- Creates and maintains calendars and project plans to ensure the creation, repurposing and curating of relevant content and graphic/video assets that support marketing campaign messaging and day-to-day publishing across all platforms.
- Manages content and messaging across digital platforms (web, social media, third-party applications) to ensure that new information is published according to schedule and need.
- Manages the development, editing, production, and distribution of print and digital communications, including, but not limited to, news releases, web and social media content, video scripts, and newsletters.
- Serves as Creative Contact to provide advertising collateral and traffic instructions to advertisers within established agreements and timeframes.
- Manages web design and development efforts, and aids departments with content management and specific communications needs.
- Plans, writes, and produces scripts for multimedia, and selects and directs talent, as applicable. Serves as on-air talent and records voiceovers for projects.
- Performs site surveys, secures locations (and permits if necessary), coordinates props, creates shot lists and develops production schedules for photo and video projects.
- Following established processes, reviews creative work to ensure consistency and adherence to brand standards, messaging, and best practices before submitting for final approval.
- Manages stakeholder expectations to ensure balance between internal or external customer needs and team resources, while also balancing conflicting priorities and demands.
- Communicates regularly with departmental clients (user departments), external customers and other team members to provide updates on projects.
- Maintains spreadsheets and other tools used in project tracking and data analysis; Creates and delivers reports to support analytics and measurement.
- Researches, recommends, procures, and works with external resources to ensure materials and/or support needed for creative projects are available on time and within budget.
- Assists in preparing and monitoring the annual department budget and performs procurement-related tasks to support creative projects and needs.
- Maintains knowledge of industry changes by attending leadership and multimedia training sessions annually.
- Organizes training opportunities for employees on use of equipment and industry best practices in carrying out their work.
- Interviews, hires, trains, supervises, coaches, mentors, and disciplines, and carries out the supervisory responsibilities in accordance with policies and applicable laws.

- Discretion to handle sensitive matters as it pertains to SWA employees and/or elected public officials.

The ideal candidate possesses the education and experience listed below.- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in communications, marketing or a relevant field OR 4 years of professional experience in communications or marketing.
- Experience with print and digital communications, graphic design, and written content development.
- Experience working with websites, social media, creative design, video production and events required.
- Supervisory experience preferred.
- Prior experience in recycling, solid waste or environmental education preferred.
- Any combination of training, education and experience that provides the required knowledge, skills, and abilities to perform the essential functions of the position.

The position is primarily performed in an office environment and the employee is routinely required to sit, stand, walk, reach, and use hands to touch, handle, or feel and talk and hear; stoop, kneel and crouch. May be required to lift objects up to 25 pounds and of awkward shape, such as cameras and tripods, or other audio-visual equipment. The employee will be required to visit solid waste management facilities and drive to other locations to perform work and attend meetings.
