The Georgia Bureau of Investigation (GBI) is an independent, statewide agency that supports the state's criminal justice system in the areas of criminal investigations, forensic laboratory services and computerized criminal justice information.
GBI Budget Manager oversees the Budget and Procurement/Purchasing Unit.
- Implements state and federal statutory requirements, fiscal policies and procedures.
- Assists the CFO with budget development, budget planning and an overall administration of GBI’s budget.
- Monitors program budgets and identifies budget variances with the support of the budget staff.
- Administer and monitor federal grants in accordance with the grant award.
- Maintain grant files; review and approve grant expenditures, complete grant adjustments and extensions and perform monthly reconciliations.
- Manage GBI purchasing function assuring compliance with purchasing laws, regulations and policies.
- Ensure staff is current on all state and federal relevant finance related policies.
- Monitors and evaluates the performance of staff.
- Effective communication skills with internal and external customers.
Essential job duties for the Budget Manager position include, but are not limited to, the following:
Proficient use of MS Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook software.
The ability to sit or stand at a desk for extended periods of time.
Interact face-to-face with internal and external customers as required, to include giving budget presentations.
Sporadic travel in Georgia, and occasional overnight stays.
WORK ENVIRONMENT:
This position requires the incumbent to work in an office setting.
NOTE: This position may require operating a state vehicle. A valid Georgia driver’s license is required.
Budget Manager (FIM030; Pay Grade: N; $80,000 - $90,000)
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or public/business administration from an accredited college or university
AND
Three (3) years of professional job-related experience in accounting, budgeting, or general management, which includes two (2) years in a managerial or supervisory role.
OR
Two (2) years of experience at the lower-level Budget Analyst Spv (FIP013) or equivalent position.
Senior Budget Manager (FIM031; Pay Grade: O; $90,000 - $95,500)
Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or public/business administration from an accredited college or university
AND
Four (4) years of professional job-related experience in accounting, budgeting, or public/business administration which includes two (2) years in a managerial or supervisory role.
OR
Three (3) years of experience at the lower level Mgr, Budget (FIM030) or equivalent position.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS (FIM030 or FIM031):Preference will be given to applicants that, in addition to meeting the minimum qualifications, possess one or more of the following:
- Two (2) years or more of experience with State of Georgia budget development and legislative processes.
- Two (2) years of experience with TeamWork Financials or WorkDay Financials/Procurement.
- One year of experience documenting and monitoring internal controls.
- A master’s degree in public administration.
