The purpose of this position is to schedule court activities such as conferences, hearings, mediations, and bench or jury trials for two assigned courts. Provides clerical support to Judges and Staff Attorneys to accomplish the calendar functions for the Superior Court.
- Maintains calendar of court activities; schedules court and/or other proceedings; creates calendars for pre-trial, jury and non-jury, motions, trial, and other cases; schedules foreign language interpreters and coordinates court appearances; updates, reviews, and notifies participants within established timeframes and regulations; notes relevant information on the calendar; makes calendar adjustments as needed.
- Notifies defendants, plaintiffs, attorneys, or other involved parties of upcoming court dates; verifies addresses of involved parties; prepares and electronically files and mails official notifications.
- Dockets and files orders; dockets/files bond orders, interpreter requests, requests for judicial assistance, waivers of counsel, bench warrants, reset notices, and other court orders; sends electronic or hard copy notices to all pertinent parties; tracks all notices, ensuring they have ben issued as ordered by a judge.
- Attends hearings and performs courtroom duties; prepares calendar notations for use in updates; prepares and completes reset notices as needed; obtains signatures; distributes copies; performs duties of bailiff; assists with management of jurors; and coordinates transfer of prisoners from detention facility to courtroom as assigned.
- Provides customer service; receives and responds to questions by email or phone from attorneys, defendants, government/law enforcement agents, court personnel, and the general public; provides information regarding court procedures, case status, court dates, and certified copies of legal documents; and may assist with litigant or attorney requests in person.
- Performs other related duties as assigned.
Education And Experience
Requires a High School diploma or equivalent, and three (3) years of related legal and/or court-related experience, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Associate or Bachelor’s degree preferred.
Licenses Or Certifications
Must possess and maintain a valid Georgia driver’s license. Paralegal Certificate is a plus. Notary Public is a plus. Depending on area of assignment, may be required to obtain and maintain Georgia Crime Information Certification.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is light work which requires exerting up to 20 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 10 pounds of force to move objects. Requires mental acuity including the ability to make rational decisions through sound logic and deductive processes, the ability to express ideas by means of the spoken word and have close visual acuity.
