Performs para-professional engineering design, field staking, and project management for reactive and planned distribution projects under direct supervision.
Electrical Project Coordinator I ($73,844.16-$121,917.12)
Performs para-professional engineering design, field staking, and project management for reactive and planned distribution projects.
Essential Functions:
Electrical Designer I ($49,316.80- $81,434.08)
- Design & prepare technical drawings for overhead, underground, and street light facility construction.
- Input and maintain designs within a GIS framework.
- Perform field work, including surveying, layout staking, and inspection;
- Interact/communicate with stakeholders, including members of the public, customers, contractors, consultants, developers, and LP&L/COL staff.
- Resolve conflicts, develop design solutions, and manage multiple small-scale distribution projects.
- Prepare cost estimates and submit invoicing information for utility cost recovery fees.
- Analyze customer needs and perform calculations to determine required sizes and types of various electrical equipment and components.
- Provide a material list for each project and forecast material needs for upcoming projects. Coordinate with COL Warehouse and LP&L Procurement to ensure required materials are available;
- Coordinate with COL, FAA, Railroad, and TXDOT to acquire permits where required;
- Upon Completion of new construction projects, ensure data is accurately updated in the GIS database;
- Attend meetings as needed;
- Respond to emergency call-outs as needed during system restoration;
- Respond to inquiries and complaints regarding projects.
- Perform related duties as required.
Electrical Lead Designer ($60,626.24-$101,751.52)
Everything in Designer I plus the following:
- Design & prepare technical drawings for medium to large overhead, underground, and street light facility construction.
- Resolve conflicts, develop design solutions, and manage multiple medium-scale distribution projects.
Electrical Project Coordinator ($73,844.16-$121,917.12)
Everything in Designer I & Lead Designer plus the following:
- Design & prepare technical drawings for medium to large overhead, underground, and street light facility construction.
- Resolve conflicts, develop design solutions, and manage multiple medium-scale distribution projects.
Qualifications:

Electrical Designer I
Completion of an associate’s degree with two years of experience in construction, electrical, inspection, drafting, GIS, or related technical work. Related experience or certifications may substitute for the education requirement on a year-to-year basis.
Physical Exam Required
Texas Driver's License
Electrical Lead Designer
Completion of an associate’s degree with five years of experience in construction, electrical, inspection, drafting, GIS, or related technical work. Related experience or certifications may substitute for the education requirement on a year-to-year basis.
Certified Associate in Project Management (CAPM) Preferred
Physical Exam Required
Electrical Project Coordinator
Completion of an associate’s degree with twelve years of experience in construction, electrical, inspection, drafting, GIS, or related technical work, including supervisory experience. Related experience or certifications may substitute for the education requirement on a year-to-year basis.
Project Management Professional (PMP) Preferred

Knowledge and Abilities:
Electrical Designer I
Knowledge of:
- Basic principles and practices of electric distribution utility design and construction;
- Basic computer operation;
- The principles and procedures of electric utility operations and loads;
Ability to:
- Work effectively under pressure;
- Operate a computer using Microsoft suite products, GIS design software & survey equipment;
- Communicate clearly and effectively, both verbally and in writing;
- Effectively work with co-workers, the public, and other departments;
- Quickly adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic schedule;
- Provide excellent customer service.
Physical Requirements:
- Frequently stand and walk during shift;
- Occasionally climb stairs, ladders, and inclined surfaces;
- Frequently bend and kneel during shift;
- Frequently lift and carry up to 25 pounds;
- Occasionally lift and carry up to 50 pounds;
- Frequently push and pull objects;
- Frequently flex upper trunk forward at the waist and partially at the knees;

Everything in Designer I plus the following:
Knowledge of:
- Principles and practices of electric distribution utility design and construction;
- Intermediate computer operation;
Ability to:
- Mentor designer-level positions
Electrical Project Coordinator
Everything in Designer I plus the following:
Knowledge of:
- Advanced computer operation;
- Advances knowledge of the entire utility system to perform restoration during an emergency call-out.
Ability to:
Supervise the work of others
