SUMMARY
Under direct supervision, performs a variety of general, entry level, and routine administrative support work. Provides public assistance and receives and processes payments and issues receipts. In addition, performs work specific to the functions of the front office under the supervision of more experienced personnel. This is the entry level clerical position in the city. Serves as receptionist and mail processor. Learns and performs general administrative work specific to the functions of the office.ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Serves as office receptionist, assists the public, and provides information and answers questions regarding citations and other city-related items.
Sorts and processes mail.
Receives, issues, and enters payments received by the front office, and prepares corresponding reports of front office issued receipts.
Performs detailed data entry work of entry level to moderate complexity.
Prepares, drafts, and proofreads a variety of correspondence, forms, and documents; maintains accurate and up to date files, records, and logs.
Prepares and processes requisitions.
Compiles manuals and maintains accuracy with current standards.
Replenishes office supplies as needed.
Performs a variety of simple arithmetic calculations related to department business.
Takes messages and routes phone calls.
Provides general assistance to department management and assists other clerical personnel.
Performs related duties as assigned.MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

File quickly and accurately.
Keyboard at a rate of 40 wpm.
Operate Microsoft Office, computing systems, and mobile devices.
EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE:
Any combination of education and experience that demonstrates possession of the requisite knowledge, skill and abilities. High School Diploma or GED AND 1 year of clerical experience preferred. While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit.
