Summary Objective
The purpose of this position is to facilitate the interagency process for generating innovative solutions and assessing new opportunities. Create work plans and manage projects from idea generation through pilot evaluation and full-scale implementation planning.
This class works independently, under limited supervision, reporting major activities through periodic meetings.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
The essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.
Coordinates with Office of Performance Improvement & Innovation Coaches, as well as department liaisons, to insure alignment with and integration into strategic and operational plans and work.
Coordinates across city departments to identify, design and implement projects that address complex urban challenges, with a focus on measurable results.
Consults with internal and external experts to generate innovative solutions and to assess feasibility.
Performs data analysis to uncover new insights, as well as measure and evaluate the impact of innovation initiatives.
Conducts, writes up and presents research and interviews to provide a greater understanding of key issues, best practices and the potential impacts of new initiatives and policy decisions.
Manages and maintains strong relationships with a broad set of stakeholders, including government officials and private and nonprofit sector leaders.
Organizes and conducts outreach for workshops, events and competitions.
Leads the development of detailed charters and implementation plans for delivery on all major initiatives in the identified priority areas.
Ensures effective project management and performance monitoring is in place and regularly monitors progress of initiatives and recommends corrective actions.
Communicates progress to relevant stakeholders.
Performs related work as assigned.
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS
Bachelor’s Degree in Public Policy, Business or Public Administration or related discipline.
One (1) year of relevant work experience working with and as part of a high-performance team, working with government or private sector leaders and establishing targets and delivering measurable results on time and within budget or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience.
