Join the City and County of Broomfield Parks Team as a Seasonal Laborer.

No Experience Required.
These seasonal roles offer an opportunity to work outdoors, gain hands-on experience, and support your community while being part of a collaborative parks team.
Positions may begin immediately and continue as late as December, with the overall length of employment dependent on available budgeted hours and each candidate’s availability.
Most crews work a typical schedule of 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m., Monday–Friday. Hours may vary based on weather, operational needs, and crew assignment. Some roles may require weekend and/or holiday work. Please review the supplemental questions for specific scheduling expectations by crew.
- Employees receive a free recreation center pass.
- Uniforms, shoes, and personal protective equipment (PPE) are provided.
Salary Range: $18.94–$23.14/hour
Candidates must be at least 18 years of age. A valid driver’s license with a safe driving record is preferred.
Essential Required Tasks/Examples Of Duties
Available Crews and Summary of Duties Below:
Athletics
- Preparation, development, and maintenance of park areas, open space, and rights-of-way.
- Preparation of baseball and softball fields, including cleaning dugouts; hand dragging or dragging fields using a golf cart; chalking fields; raking mounds and home plate areas; and occasionally replacing base receptacles.
- Maintenance of soccer and football fields, including marking and lining fields and occasionally moving soccer goals either manually or with the assistance of a tractor.
- Bike park: grooming, sweeping, and repacking trails; trimming and edging native grass areas.
Structures
- Installation and repair of park structures and amenities.
- Performing safety inspections and repairs to playgrounds and playground equipment, including repairing and painting picnic tables, park benches, etc.
- Maintaining and cleaning outdoor shelters and restroom facilities.
- Assisting staff with projects.
Horticulture
- Planting and weeding flower beds; planting and pruning trees; removing or replacing tree posts; tree and limb removal; chipping limbs; and planting and maintaining shrub beds, including pruning, weeding, and mulching.
- Weed control involving hand pulling or spraying herbicides.
Irrigation
- Diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of irrigation systems in parks, greenbelts, municipal buildings, native areas, and sports complexes.
- Installing, troubleshooting, and repairing mainlines, laterals, valves, controllers, booster pumps, flow sensors, and irrigation heads on domestic and reclaimed water systems.
Open Space
- Control of noxious weeds using herbicides, hand pulling, seed collection, biological controls, and mowing.
- Repair and maintenance of soft trails.
- Evaluating and repairing structures, fences, signs, docks, piers, etc. in open space.
Mowing
- Mowing, trimming, and edging of parks, rights-of-way, and sport complexes.
- Using and maintaining equipment ranging from trucks and trailers to lawn mowers and handheld landscaping tools.
Forestry
- Tree pruning, removal, chipping, stump grinding, inventory, and disease and insect control.
- Use of chippers, chainsaws, trucks and trailers, and ropes and rigging lines.
Crew members play an active role in maintaining equipment and supporting daily operations that keep our parks and facilities in top condition. You’ll help clean and check tools after use, assist with routine inspections and basic preventive maintenance, and flag repair needs so work can continue safely and efficiently.
This role offers variety and hands-on experience—supporting special events, helping keep park areas, shelters, and ball fields clean, and assisting with seasonal projects like snow removal and holiday decorations. You’ll work in a collaborative, team-focused environment where safety and pride in the community come first.
Employees gain experience operating and working around a wide range of equipment, including trucks, tractors, mowers, trimmers, blowers, and other maintenance tools, building practical skills that translate to future outdoor, facilities, and public works roles.

- If this position is required to drive a CCOB vehicle a DMV check will be required
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Must possess and maintain a valid driver’s license and safe driving record for continued employment - preferred
- Candidates will be asked to perform a physical skills assessment during the interview process.

All Seasonal Laborer assignments require physical labor, including lifting and carrying up to 50 lbs. independently throughout the day. Candidates will be asked to complete a job-related physical skills assessment during the interview process. New Seasonal Laborers will be assigned to work on a crew depending on where the openings exist. Please review the next several questions and select the crew(s) you ARE willing to work on. Forestry: Assist in the maintenance of the City and County’s Urban Forest, which could include planting, pruning, removal, and spraying of city-owned trees. (Regular schedule is Monday–Friday, 6:30 a.m.–3:30 p.m.) Are you willing to work on the Forestry crew?

Athletic Facilities/Structures: Assist in the preparation and maintenance of baseball, softball, soccer, and/or football fields, and occasionally in moving the soccer goals. Assist in the installation and repair of all park structures. Perform safety inspections and repairs to playgrounds and playground equipment, including painting picnic tables, park benches, etc. Maintain and clean outdoor shelters and restroom facilities. (Regular schedule could include weekdays, weekends, or both. Weekday shifts are generally 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.; weekend shifts vary between 5:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. as needed.) Are you willing to work on the Athletic Facilities/Playgrounds crew?

Horticulture: Assist with horticultural activities, including planting and weeding flower beds; planting and pruning trees; removing or replacing tree posts; tree/limb removal; chipping limbs; planting and maintaining shrubs; spraying herbicides and pesticides; and landscape construction. (Regular schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m.) Are you willing to work on the Horticulture crew?

Irrigation: Assist in the operation, diagnosis, maintenance, and repair of irrigation systems, including manual digging of trenches, etc. (Regular schedule is Monday–Friday, 6:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m. May require additional hours for emergency repairs as needed.) Are you willing to work on the Irrigation crew?

Open Space: Assist in the maintenance of open space, including noxious weed control, trail maintenance, weed mowing, right-of-way mowing, and other open space duties as assigned. Use of sprayers, trucks, trimmers, edgers, hand tools, trailers, and mowers during maintenance operations. (Regular schedule is Monday–Friday, 7:00 a.m.–3:30 p.m., but the schedule may vary.) Are you willing to work on the Open Space crew?

Turf Mowing: Assist in the preparation, development, and maintenance of all park sites by using string trimmers, edgers, blowers, and lawn mowers. May be trained in the operation of riding mowers. (Regular schedule is Monday–Friday, 6:30 a.m.–3:00 p.m.) Are you willing to work on the Trimming and Turf Mowing crew?
