This is a year-round, part-time position averaging up to 26 hours per week, including weekends.
JOB DESCRIPTION:
Under the supervision of the Community Events Manager, the Community Events Coordinator assists the City of Mansfield Parks and Recreation Department with the planning, organization, setup, execution, monitoring, and breakdown of special events throughout the City.
EXAMPLES OF WORK TO BE PERFORMED:
- Assist the Community Events Manager and Parks and Recreation staff with planning, organizing, and executing City-sponsored events.
- Follow and execute event plans, timelines, and assignments according to pre-established schedules.
- Assist with setting up and breaking down event spaces, including tables, chairs, equipment, decorations, and supplies.
- Monitor event areas to ensure safety, cleanliness, and compliance with City policies and procedures.
- Assist with crowd flow, guest directions, and basic event logistics.
- Interact professionally with guests, parents/guardians, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, performers, and coworkers at all times.
- Perform basic office and event support duties such as answering phones, organizing materials, and light cleaning.
- Provide a high level of customer service to event guests, volunteers, sponsors, vendors, performers, and fellow staff.
- Assist with recreation programs and events, including monitoring activities and participants.
- When needed, assist with desk operations at the Mansfield Activities Center, Parks and Recreation Administration, and Geyer Commons by greeting guests, answering questions, and providing event and facility information.
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members during event operations.
- Attend staff meetings, training, and briefings as scheduled.
- Drive city vehicles as needed for event operations.
- Enforce and maintain Parks and Recreation facility and event policies as needed.
- Perform other assigned duties as required.

REQUIRED EDUCATION, TRAINING, AND EXPERIENCE:
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must possess a valid Texas drivers license
- Must be at least 18 years of age.
DESIRED TRAINING AND EXPERIENCE:
- Previous experience in customer service, recreation, hospitality, or special events.
- CPR certification preferred.
- Bilingual in Spanish preferred.

- Ability to make general observations of facilities and event spaces
Working conditions:
- The worker is subject to both environmental conditions hot and cold. Activities occur inside and outside.
- Exposure to varying weather conditions, including extreme heat. The worker is subject to environmental conditions. Protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes.
- Exposure to elevated noise levels during events. There is sufficient noise to cause the worker to shout in order to be heard above ambient noise level.
