Hiring Range:
$46,762.00 - $59,666.00 AnnuallyHours: 8:00 am – 5:00 pm (Some evenings required)

This position will be nested within the Housing and Neighborhood Services - Administrative Division.
An ideal candidate will have experience in general administrative duties, possess excellent customer service skills, and have an eye for detail.
This is an exciting time for the Housing and Neighborhood Services Department. The City’s Affordable Housing, Code Enforcement, and Human Relations teams were recently combined to create one department.
Collaboratively, the teams work together to execute the City Council's affordable housing and neighborhood services goals as we work together to build a Durham where everyone has affordable, safe, and fair housing. - Provide general customer service by serving as the first point of contact for in-person visitors, processing incoming calls and responding to routine inquiries.
- Coordinate meeting and event logistics, prepare meeting agendas and minutes, data entry, record retention and file management, retrieves and distributes mail.
- Process payroll information for the department.
- Inventory and purchase supplies ensuring compliance with departmental and budgetary guidelines; Prepares and produces documents, reports and/or presentations from verbal information and/or written drafts.
- Provide clerical support to the Boards, Committees and Commissions assigned to the Housing & Neighborhood Services department.
- Provide general administrative support to staff and/or projects and performs other administrative duties as assigned.
- High School Diploma or equivalent (GED, HiSet, TASC)
- Three years of related clerical/administrative support experience.
- Associates or Bachelors degree in a related field
- Proficient in Microsoft Office applications
- Ability to create and maintain effective work relationships
- Experience working with affordable housing, community development, or human services fields.
ADA and Other Requirements
Work is routinely performed in an indoor, office environment.
Positions in this class typically require: reaching, standing, walking, fingering, grasping, feeling, talking, hearing, seeing and repetitive motions.
Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally and/or a negligible amount of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time. Walking and standing are required only occasionally.
