Position Summary
Perform a variety of tasks in support of Parks and Recreations, Open Space Division including coordination of routine maintenance on the grounds of the Bosque, cleaning, janitorial maintenance, working alongside volunteers and partners performing a variety of tasks relative to assigned area of responsibility.

Essential And Supplemental Functions
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS: Essential functions may include but are not limited to the functions listed below. Must be able to perform the essential functions of the job with or without a reasonable accommodation.
- Aid in ongoing restoration efforts in the Bosque by planting and maintaining newly planted trees and shrubs, managing areas of erosion, and removing invasive plants and fuel loads at the direction of a supervisor.
- Maintaining trails, fences, gates, and recreation areas, including trailheads and restrooms; adhere to safe work practices and procedures.
- Interface with the public on a regular basis to inform about rules and regulations, trail etiquette, public events, and education offerings, and respond to general questions and concerns in a courteous manner.
- Work alongside volunteers, youth crews, students, and partners on restoration projects and public events; conduct or assist in general maintenance and light construction activities.
- Work with staff, partners, and the public on citizen science, monitoring, and research projects.
- Participate in assessments, including walking and biking patrols, and report findings to support ongoing operations and maintenance of the Bosque.
- Perform cleaning and routine maintenance, janitorial and custodial duties, clean up trash, and remove unnatural debris from Bosque.
- May use radio/cell phone to communicate with field and base to coordinate and complete tasks.
SUPPLEMENTAL FUNCTIONS:
- Maintain awareness of new developments in the field assigned; incorporate new developments as appropriate into programs.
- Perform related duties and responsibilities as required.
Minimum Education, Experience And Additional Requirements
Education directly related to the minimum requirements below may be substituted for experience on a year for year basis.
High School Diploma or GED;
and
Four (4) years' experience in natural resource management, grounds maintenance/repair or open space.
Additional Requirements
Possession of a valid New Mexico Driver's License, or the ability to obtain by date of hire.
Possession of a valid City Operator's Permit (COP) within six (6) months from date of hire.
May be required to work weekends/odd days off
Working Conditions
Environmental
Office and outside environment; frequently at outdoor recreational facilities; exposure to computer screens, noise, dust, heat, cold and inclement weather conditions.
Physical
Essential and supplemental functions may require maintaining physical condition necessary for walking, sitting, standing, bending, kneeling, and climbing; may include hiking and sometimes hilly or rocky terrain; operating motorized equipment and vehicles.
