The Auburn Municipal Court is looking for a Court Clerkto add to the team! This person is instrumental in the day-to-day operations of Auburn Municipal Court. This role is designed to prepare the individual for continued growth in the judicial branch including but not limited to increased knowledge of judicial procedure; specialty courts/calendars; training; and court technology. With the garnered skills and knowledge this individual would be prepared to serve in higher capacities such as a lead court clerk or court operations supervisor. This position is a vital member of the court team and will support the court's mission for providing accessible, respectful and transparent service through integrity, accountability, and collaboration. As a team we will foster a workplace culture that is respectful and mindful of public service.This position performs administrative and technical court support work for the Auburn Municipal Court. Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, processing and maintaining court records, scheduling and preparing matters for hearing, entering and retrieving case information, serving as in-court clerk, processing warrants and court orders, receiving and accounting for court-related payments, and providing information and assistance to court users and justice-system partners. Work requires thorough knowledge of court procedures, accuracy, confidentiality, sound judgment, and the ability to accomplish a high volume of detailed work within established legal and procedural requirements.
IMPORTANT RECRUITMENT INFORMATION: The City of Auburn is conducting this recruitment to establish a qualified hiring pool in anticipation of City Council consideration and approval of funding for this position as part of the City’s budget process in September 2026.
Candidates may participate in the recruitment, interview, and selection process prior to final budget approval; however, no appointment or offer of employment will be made unless and until the position and associated funding receive all required City approvals.
The resulting eligibility/hiring pool may be used to fill this position following approval and may also be used to fill similar vacancies, as appropriate.

In this job, you will:- Provide administrative and technical support in the day-to-day operation of the court.
- Respond to inquiries from defendants, attorneys, law enforcement, prosecutors, court partners, other agencies, and the public; provides routine information regarding court processes, case status, schedules, forms, and procedures within established authority.
- Serve as Court Clerk while court is in session; records and documents proceedings, makes docket entries, processes orders, marks and maintains exhibits, and completes other courtroom duties as assigned.
Possess knowledge of municipal court operations, court rules, legal terminology, records practices, and procedures applicable to criminal and civil-infraction case processing; office administration, records management, cash-handling and reconciliation practices, customer service, and confidential information handling.

Three (3) years of progressively responsible court-related clerical or administrative experience, including experience applying court rules, procedures, and case-processing requirements;
OR
An equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the knowledge, skills, and abilities necessary to perform the essential functions of the position.
Municipal or district court experience and experience using Washington State court information systems are highly desirable.
NOTE: This position will be required to be fingerprinted and complete the CJIS (Criminal Justice Information Services) Security Certification Test to be allowed to view sensitive information and have unescorted access while at the Police Department (per Washington State Patrol ACCESS unit).WHY CHOOSE THE CITY OF AUBURN?
