Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Animal Services Supervisor provides respectful, courteous, and friendly customer service to all residents, business owners, and property owners while enforcing Town ordinances and ensuring compliance of regulations pertaining to the animal control ordinance. Candidate displays composure, a helpful attitude, integrity, and professionalism in all circumstances, including stressful and other adverse conditions. Primary duties include Animal Services duties including but not limited to: assisting in the animal shelter, assisting in the receiving, redeeming and adoption of animals at the shelter, also includes investigation of animal complaints and animal bites, patrols Town and impounds stray or injured animals, and removal of dead animals from the roadway. Activities include responding to complaints, writing reports, conducting investigations, research, providing staff support, providing education and awareness to the public, maintaining records, public presentations, general office duties, and other duties as assigned, all in conformance with State and Town law.

Education/Training/Experience
High School Diploma or General Equivalency Diploma (GED) is required. One or more years of animal control work or related experience preferred.
LICENSES OR CERTIFICATES
- Must be bondable.
- Basic Animal Control Officer Certification preferred or the ability to complete within six months of employment.
- Must have a valid Texas Driver's License.
Language Skills
- Ability to read, write, and speak English fluently.
- Ability to respond to common inquiries or complaints from customers, regulatory agencies or authorities, or members of the local business community.
- Bilingual communicative skills are preferred

- Must be able to learn and interpret related ordinances and codes and procedures for handling code and ordinance violations.
Essential Job Functions
- Ability to provide enforcement related services with utmost professionalism, positive attitude, and a customer service mindset including with irate citizens.
- Patrols Town and investigates ordinance violations and enforces codes with impartiality and efficiency in regard to Animal Services areas of enforcement.
- Maintains a record of inspections and investigations conducted and actions taken in regard to Animal Services areas of enforcement.
- Enforces the Animal Services Ordinances.
- Responds, orally and in writing, to requests for code interpretation and application from citizens.
- Prepares and maintains accurate records, compiles data and reports; utilizes information as witness for prosecution in court cases; and prepares, processes and issues notices or citations for violations of applicable codes, regulations or laws and follows through with appropriate actions.
- Coordinates related projects with other Town departments and outside agencies.
- Adheres to personnel, safety, and departmental rules and regulations.
- Informs supervisor of all work-related activities.
- Assists other co-workers as needed.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
- Maintains on call status.

WORK ENVIRONMENT
The work environment characteristics described herein are representative of those an employee encounters while performing the essential functions of this job. Works in a combination of office and field environment. Position requires work indoors, underground, outdoors, in confined spaces, in trenches, on level, slippery, sloping, and unstable and muddy terrain; and work in adverse environmental conditions to include inclement weather, hazardous conditions including mechanical, electrical, fume odor, dust/mist, chemical, and toxic waste hazards and other solid waste substances and exposure to insects, noxious plants, snakes, etc
