The City of Portland Police Department is receiving applications for Code Enforcement Officer. The Code Enforcement Officer is under the administrative direction of the Sergeant-Special Services. The purpose of this position is to investigate, research, evaluate and coordinate improvement or rehabilitation of code violations in private and public properties within the City’s jurisdiction. This is accomplished by visually and physically inspecting properties that violate City code, documenting inspections and rehabilitations, communicating with property owners/ constituents, and issuing violation of code notices. May perform other work-related duties as required. The overall goal of the Code Enforcement Officer shall be to eliminate unsightly and unhealthy conditions, keeping Portland a beautiful family-oriented place to live.
This position is subject to the City of Portland’s Background Investigation and Drug Testing Policy. The City verifies all information prior to extending an offer of employment. New hires are required to provide proof of identity and legal authority to work in the United States per Federal law.

Qualifications
High School graduate or equivalent required.
Valid Texas Class C Drivers’ License with a good driving record required.
Ability to obtain Code Enforcement Certification within one year of employment.
Must pass a drug screen and physical exam.
One or more years code enforcement experience preferred.
