GENERAL STATEMENT OF JOB
The purpose of this classification is to support the Mayor, City Manager, Clerk, and Attorney’s Offices in the research, development, and consolidation of City ordinances, resolutions, and administrative policies.
Essential Functions
SPECIFIC DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Works with City Manager & Clerk to research and consolidate conflicting ordinances, resolutions, and administrative” policies
- Assisting in the coordinating, planning, and production of traffic calming Implementation Public Information Sessions
- Tracking and trending the progress of traffic calming projects across the city.
- Researching national & international best practices in traffic calming implementation
- Exercise considerable initiative, independent judgment, and discretion, especially where clearly defined guidelines are needed to ensure the Mayor’s action items are properly prioritized, processed, managed, and resolved.
- Use discretion and care in handling confidential and sensitive information, as well as professionalism and tact in interacting with internal and external higher-level staff and management in planning and coordinating work efforts.
- Work with management consultants and City staff to conduct, organize, present, and discuss research and analyze information and data, financial budgetary, statistical, demographic, and historical data, to develop recommendations for current and proposed programs, policies, organizational or financial structures, productivity, equipment, and staffing requirements.
- Interpret, communicate, and apply rules, procedures, and policies.
- Comprehend and make inferences from written material such as policy statements, external and internal communication materials, reports, surveys, and data summaries to make recommendations concerning various issues.
- Coordinate work activities, program functions, and other tasks with other City departments, cities, county, state, and federal agencies
- Conduct internal and external email communication with council members, vendors, and employees.
- Must be comfortable interacting with diverse populations, including but not limited to youth& seniors, physically/mentally disabled, formerly incarcerated, immigrant and LGBTIQA+ communities
- Communicate with management consultants, other City employees, Department Directors, the City
- Prioritize own work, including research, committee work, and reports.
- Track hours worked and Other duties as necessary
MINIMUM EDUCATION AND TRAINING
- College/University Junior or Senior; or 2nd Year of Community/Technical College
- Must have a cumulative GPA of 2.75 or higher
- Experience with Google Sheets and/or Microsoft Excel, including Pivot Tables and/or Monday.com
- Have a reliable form of transit or transportation to 5440 Fulton Industrial Blvd, 30336
Minimum Qualifications And Standards Required
Work Hours: Must be willing to work holidays, nights and up to 2 weekends per month with as little as 72 hours’ notice.
Physical Requirements
This position classifies the physical exertion requirements as light physical effort in sedentary to light work, which may involve lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of objects and materials of light weight (5-10 pounds). Tasks may involve extended periods at a keyboard or workstation. Some tasks require the ability to perceive and discriminate visual cues or signals. Some tasks require the ability to communicate orally.
